Dr. Dewakar is a multi-talented personality with skills in fields like Aviation, Teaching, Writing, Poetry, and Advocacy. He advises everyone to aim high in life and never think low of yourself.

Dr. Dewakar Goel is Chairman of the Aero Academy of Aviation Science and Management. He has also served as the Executive Director- HR in the Airports Authority of India and Director-HR at Indian Aviation Academy.

Dewakar says that he has a long professional career to talk about. He was also associated with the Joint Aviation Authorities Training Organization, Amsterdam, Netherlands. He is also an HR Consultant with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Montreal, Canada, and Human Performance Technologist of International Air Transport Association (IATA) Geneva, Switzerland.

Dewakar terms himself as a Poet, Writer, Singer, Professor, and Advocate. He has also done a Ph.D. in Management under Prof. (Dr.) Sadhan Das Gupta, Calcutta University.

Being a son of a senior Police Officer from Uttar Pradesh, Dewakar was always under disciplined guidance and was a meritorious student in his academic days, bagging many scholarships and awards. He wanted to become a doctor but could not and hence always had this pinch in his heart of not becoming one. However, today, he takes interviews of medical students and thinks that life does come full circle one day.

He also taught for ten years at Narsee Monjee University and mentored some brilliant students in the field of Management. He pursued a B.Sc. and a degree in Law and completed his specialization at National Law Institute. He then practiced under Delhi Bar Council, 1982 batch, and made some very good friends in Delhi.

Dewakar says that he had a passion for writing from his childhood. He got his first story published in a school magazine when he was in standard seventh. Since then, he kept the trend going on. He says that his other dream was to be a writer but due to his studies he could not follow it passionately.

Dewakar shares that he cleared the Service Selection Board, Bangalore, and got an opportunity in the Defense field but he knew that it was not his cup of tea. He appeared in more competitions and was selected  in the erstwhile International Airports Authority of India and got located in Mumbai. Dewakar says that he never thought that he would go to Mumbai one day. He says that he was doing a good job in the private sector but his father wanted him to be in the government sector and hence he opted for the job in Aviation. He feels that working there gave him a feeling of dignity in life.

He says that it was the era when only four flights used to run between Delhi and Mumbai and he also had a say in arranging for tickets as nothing was online. It was due to this that he came in contact with many bollywood celebrities and poets  like Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Deepti Naval, Kaifi Azmi, Bashir Badra among many others.

Dewakar shares that around this time he got into poetry writing as well. He had a habit of writing a diary and jotted his poems as well. One day, Shabana Azmi got hold of his diary and praised his work, and invited him to visit her father, Kaifi Azmi, at their place ‘Janaki Kutir’. It was Kaifi Azmi that convinced Dewakar’s wife to publish his poetry collection and that is how his book, ‘Sisakte Arman’, got published.

Dewakar says that his wife then suggested he write books on Management as he was teaching in that field as well and he also welcomed the thought. Dewakar feels that he was lucky enough to get great Publishers like Banyan Tree, Shroff, and JackFruit in his literary journey.

Dewakar shares that when he was transferred to Kolkata from Mumbai, he started getting more recognition as a writer. He feels that Kolkata provided him with the essence of Art that Mumbai somehow lacked. Whenever newspapers in Kolkata wrote about his work, he felt that every word had been written with a genuine feeling of respect which he seldom experienced in Mumbai.

After Kolkata, Dewakar was repositioned to Chennai. He got an opportunity to translate his work into languages like Tamil and Malayalam. He says that he wanted to make his novels reach the world.

Dewakar shares another aspect of his life and informs that his fight against corruption started in Mumbai. He recruited some fair professionals who are still working. He feels that one has to be in the system to change the system. He says that in every step of his life, his wife, Sangeeta Goel, always stood strong with him.

Dewakar considers Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as his Role Model. Dewakar recalls that once Dr. Kalam was on a tour to Kolkata as the President and was to launch Dewakar’s book there. However, Dewakar was already transferred out from there and missed the opportunity. He says that he again got an opportunity to meet him at a wedding and when Dewakar approached him, Dr. Kalam happened to remember that he was to launch his book in Kolkata. It was one of the most memorable moments in Dewakar’s life.

Dewakar says that he has seen many failures in life and has a very deep connection to failures. From not being able to become a doctor, a civil servant, or his poetry collection not doing well, Dewakar sees them all as learning lessons in life. He says that people fall in love but he rises in love with his failures.

Dewakar feels that the young generation needs character building and inculcation of values. They need to learn the importance of friends, the value of money, and the importance of dreaming high. He believes that we become what we think of becoming and should not limit ourselves in creating big goals for ourselves.

Talking about different fields he has worked in and the requisites of those fields, Dewakar takes up Advocacy first and says that an Advocate wins or loses a case in his chamber itself and not in the court. An advocate should prepare as if he is fighting against his client, gathering points that may go against his client. He says that a Law student should not study with an aim to just clear exams but to practice in the future. A lawyer should not give false hope to his clients is what Dewakar feels.

Talking about the Management field, he says that a good Manager should keep himself in every shoe and try to understand the job profile of every person under and around him. His main focus should be on acquiring knowledge and solving problems. He should not treat anyone as a subordinate but as an equal member of the team. He should be able to devise a measurable, oriented, time-bound, and smart plan for the future.

Dewakar takes up the field of Aviation next and says that patience and politeness are very necessary for this field. You may have a shift of twelve hours a day but have to be polite to the passengers always. The concept of empathy plays a very important role in Aviation. Tolerance, upskilling, upgrading oneself, and never losing cool are some of the things one should keep in mind before coming into this field.

Dewakar says that we should always love ourselves. This life is full of competition and we should never lose hope of success.  For him, success is not a destination but a journey on an endless road. He feels that every pen does not get the power and if you ever get that power, use it for the betterment of society.

Dewakar says that we all have something to be proud of and shares these lines of inspiration:

‘Ae Gul Kyu Dekhata Hai Tu Dusare Gul Ko;Tu Bhi To Ek Gul Hai, Apani Bahaar Dekh’

Aapki Digital Pehchan

Made with  heart  in Bharat

We can. India can.
