Devprabha is a B.Tech by education and an actor and writer by passion and profession. Since 2014, she’s been active in the creative realm and has acted in many regional and national level dramas. Kamla, Dulhan Ek Pahad Ki, etc., are some of the famous plays in which she has played lead roles. Then, in 2016, Devprabha also won a prize for her Hindi writing in the Jaipur Literature Festival. She likes writing poems, articles, and words of wisdom.
In 2018, she played a role opposite the famous actor Vijay Raaz in the Bollywood film ‘Patakha’, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. She loved the film experience and started hustling to be a full-time actor.
After completing her B.Tech in 2012, she couldn’t get any job due to a recession in the country. Thus, she utilised that time and analysed her interests and capabilities. On someone’s suggestion to join Theatre, she decided to give it a try and joined the group - Natyansh Society of Dramatic & Performing Arts in Udaipur. The appreciation she received after doing her first play helped her realise her flair for acting.
Devprabha shares that she has learned a lot by doing Theatre. She has become a more self-aware and confident human. Her interaction and communication skills have improved, and she has learned valuable moral and life skills. Hence, for anyone who wants to pursue, she strongly advises Theatre.
According to her, the acting career has its positives and negatives. Firstly, anyone who wants to pursue acting should introspect their real reason behind it. If they do it for money, it’s not the right career for them. She says that in the field of acting, money is not guaranteed in the initial days, but if one is determined to become an actor then they can follow this career positively.
Devprabha belongs to the beautiful city of lakes, Udaipur, and completed her schooling and engineering from the city. Moreover, she did MBA through distance learning. She shares that although our society does not consider acting a preferred career choice, her parents are contrastingly very proud and supportive of her aspirations.
She also likes to write and says that one needs to read a lot for writing. She feels that today the artists have a lot of opportunities and platforms to showcase their talents, promote themselves, and improve with the audience’s feedback.
“To live many lives in this one life” - is what inspires her to be an actor. The mythological divine figure ‘ Radha’ is her role model, and she dreams to play it once in life.
Furthermore, if she gets a time machine to go back in time and have a chance to correct anything, she would like to reduce the societal limitations faced by females.
