An Assistant Professor in Computer Science, Devendra Suthar overcame financial hardships and persevered through rigorous academics to build a rewarding career in education. Inspired by his parents and mentors, he believes in guiding students towards their passions by emphasizing the importance of skills alongside formal education. His journey reflects resilience, positivity, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Devendra Suthar currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at the Aravali Institute of Technical Studies in Udaipur, a position he has held with dedication for the past twelve years. Prior to this, he spent two years teaching at Vidya Bhawan, contributing to his solid foundation as an educator.

Suthar hails from Kanpur village in Madri, located in Udaipur. His early education took place within his village, grounding him in his roots before he moved on to pursue further studies. He was then accepted into Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Rajsamand, where he studied from fifth to eighth grade. This experience provided him with a rigorous academic environment and prepared him well for the next stage of his education. Following his time at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Suthar joined Alok School in Udaipur, where he completed his higher schooling.

Devendra’s pursuit of technical education began with a diploma from Vidya Bhawan Polytechnic College, equipping him with foundational skills in his field. He went on to earn his engineering degree from Arya College in Jaipur and later pursued an M.Tech. from Rajasthan Technical University (RTU) in Kota, deepening his expertise in computer science. His academic journey and professional experiences reflect his commitment to both learning and teaching in the ever-evolving field of computer science.

When reflecting on his role models, Devendra Suthar credits his parents as his foremost inspirations. Coming from a modest background, he witnessed firsthand the resilience and hard work they displayed, which profoundly shaped his outlook on life. Their dedication instilled in him the values of perseverance and humility. Suthar also fondly recalls the influence of Narayan Sir, the principal of Alok School in Fatehpura, Udaipur. Narayan Sir not only motivated him academically but also imparted valuable lessons in time management, a skill Suthar continues to hold in high regard. He firmly believes that a positive mindset can be a guiding force, helping us navigate challenges and discover effective solutions.

Devendra’s journey was not without its share of hardships. Financial difficulties were a recurring challenge throughout his school and college years. In his younger days, he often pedalled a bicycle for twelve kilometres just to attend school. The financial strains intensified during his engineering studies, where there were times he managed on just a single meal a day. Despite these obstacles, Devendra’s determination remained unwavering, allowing him to achieve his goals and become the dedicated educator he is today.

Devendra Suthar strongly believes in allowing students the freedom to pursue fields aligned with their interests rather than pressuring them into predetermined paths. He advocates for guiding students towards areas that genuinely excite them, as he feels this approach fosters motivation and success. Additionally, Suthar emphasises that education is never wasted; it provides a foundation upon which individuals can build valuable skills to enrich both their personal and professional lives. He encourages everyone to cultivate a skill alongside their formal education, as practical abilities serve as invaluable assets throughout life.

When considering the significance of education and experience, Devendra Suthar underscores the value of both. He views experience as a teacher that allows us to learn from our mistakes, helping us avoid repeating them in the future. Education, on the other hand, is essential for developing a thoughtful, analytical mindset. In Devendra’s perspective, education and experience are complementary, each enhancing the other and together equipping individuals with the wisdom and resilience needed to navigate life’s challenges.

He finds deep motivation in the song "Har ghadi badal rahi hai roop zindagi," which reminds him of life’s constant changes and the importance of staying positive through it all. This philosophy encourages him to embrace the present moment, an attitude he believes fosters resilience and joy.

In advising students, Suthar emphasises the value of developing practical skills alongside their studies and nurturing a continual eagerness to learn. He stresses that no matter the sector—government or private—skills are invaluable and never go to waste. By cultivating both knowledge and skills, he believes students can set themselves up for a fulfilling and adaptable future.
