Nobody who tries is ever defeated.
Nobody who tries is ever defeated.
Devendra Meghwal is a research scholar at the Faculty of Management Studies in Udaipur.
Recalling his childhood, Devendra says that he was a very naughty kid and used to play different games. He was fond of cycling and cricket and wanted to become a sportsman. But his parents didn’t want him to go into sports since he belonged to a lower middle-class family.
Devendra was born and raised in a village near Udaipur. He completed his schooling at the government school and did his MBA at Pacific University, Udaipur. In the final year of his MBA, he realized that he wasted a lot of time with his friends, so he started preparing for the placements. Devendra then got a job as a marketing trainer at the Apollo Technical Education Foundation in Pratapgarh.
Devendra shares that, as a marketing trainer, he used to work in the skill development center, where they provided training to dropouts and the unskilled at recreation centers. He worked there for two years and then decided to enroll in a PhD program. Devendra completed his PhD at Mohanlal Sukhadia University.
During his time at the university, Devendra got the opportunity to learn several things that enabled him to face other challenges in life as well. He also participated in the university elections, which showcased his leadership qualities.
Sharing his COVID experiences, Devendra says that everyone went through hardships at the time of the pandemic. He learned that health is the most important thing in life, and the other things are secondary. He also feels blessed that he was with his family in Colorado and enjoyed quality time with them. He also learned the importance of time, health, and family during the pandemic.
Comparing both education and experience, Devendra says that both play an important role in life. Without experience, education is meaningless, and without education, experience is meaningless.
Devendra’s role models are his parents, as he learned hard work from his father and determination and devotion towards work from his mother.
Devendra shares that, ever since he was a kid, he has been very fond of playing cricket. He believes that it is not just a game and that it has given him a sense of authority and strength. Even during the times when he was not doing financially well, he did not give up and pursued jobs in order to make a living. This is how he got the opportunity to play professionally and ultimately became captain of the team. Playing cricket has been a learning experience for him. His journey from an extra player to captain taught him a great lesson: work hard to achieve the needful, which became his life mantra. He also believes that leadership is a continuous process and a skill that has to be developed.
If given a time machine, Devendra wants to relive his childhood and enjoy the childhood memories again.
Devendra advises the younger generation to stay focused and not give up. "Face the challenges and rise above them to shape your destiny", says Devendra.
In his spare time, Devendra likes to travel and play cricket. He also likes to spend time with his friends and explore new places.
