Devendra Singh Karir is a devoted professional currently working in the field of Life Insurance. Utilising his skills and talents appropriately, he has gained valuable experience of fifteen years in the Insurance industry.

Devendra Singh Karir is a post-graduate in Commerce. He started his career in the Hotel industry and switched to the Pharma industry on the advice and inspiration of some of his friends. He worked as a Medical Representative in the Pharmaceuticals field  and gained experience. Then he moved to the Life Insurance industry. Currently, he is working as the Regional Manager in a life insurance company.

Devendra says when in 2006,  the life insurance sector got privatised, he saw tremendous growth in it and thought to utilise his skills and talents in an industry which was quite suitable for him. He credits his wife for researching and learning about the insurance industry and inspiring him to join it. She motivated him and told him that he is the best fit for the life insurance industry.

However, Devendra says he faced a lot of hardships initially. Due to people’s trust in the only life insurance company present in the market then, which was government owned, it was hard to gain public trust for the private company which he worked for. But with continuous efforts and perseverance Devendra was able to face all the problems and rise above the problems. He got seven promotions in twelve years.

Devendra feels India is a populated nation with low penetration of life insurance. There are still a large number of people who don’t have life insurance. Hence, he believes, the life insurance industry has a lot of scope for growth due to the low penetration. He says life insurance serves the people while they’re alive and their families after them. It provides protection and savings for long-term financial goals like education, marriage, or retirement. There are both short-term and long-term schemes available in life insurance.

Devendra advocates that anyone who wants to join the life insurance field should be a graduate, love to communicate and meet people, inspire people, manage disappointments maturely, think optimistically, and be comfortable in doing fieldwork. This field has tremendous scope of skill and personal development.

Devendra considers the renowned actor, Amitabh Bacchan as his role model. He looks up to him for his discipline, way of managing disappointments and failures, and zeal to work irrespective of his age.

Furthermore, Devendra feels that experience is the best teacher. His experience in the Pharma industry helped him immensely to be the right fit for the life insurance industry.

Devendra recalls that as a kid, he was a cricket lover. Presently, in his free time, he listens to music and sings to relieve his stress.

Although life insurance  is not a time-bound job, Devendra manages to save time for yoga, exercising, meditation in the morning, and spending some time with family. Devendra believes that Covid taught us the importance of family, a strong immune system, eating healthy, having a secondary income source, and digitisation.

He shares that Spiritual knowledge has helped him a lot in life. He is a regular visitor to the Brahma Kumari Ashram where he finds his solace.
