Devaram Rajpurohit is a Senior Nursing Officer at Rajasthan State Mines & Minerals Limited (RSMM), Jhamarkotra. He has also embraced yoga to maintain his fitness and seeks to promote it as well.
Devaram was raised in his maternal grandparents’ home until the fifth grade. Later, he relocated to the Jethantri village, in the Balotra district of Rajasthan, from where he originally belonged. He completed his schooling there until the tenth grade. For high schooling, he went to the Sindhari Tehsil and then completed his nursing course at Bellary in Karnataka.
In 2011, he moved to Udaipur and started working at the RNT Medical College & Hospital. Later, in 2014, he switched jobs, and since then, he has been working at RSMM, Jhamarkotra. Devaram mentions that his father was a yoga enthusiast which helped him cultivate an interest in the same since childhood.
In his 12th grade, Devaram was in the arts stream and had no intention to make a career in the field of nursing. But it so occurred that his grandmother suddenly fell ill. The nursing facilities available at that time were not quite up to the mark. Devaram realized very soon that, despite paying the required money, they could not get the required facilities easily. Good nurses or compounders were not available for miles. This incident drove him to make a career in this field.
His grandma insisted that Devaram become a doctor. Although that could not be possible for him, he was determined to go into the nursing field to take care of the ailing patients. Hence, he took up the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course.
He regards his maternal uncle as his role model. Since Devaram spent his early childhood with him, he shares that his uncles have always been there for him through all of his highs and lows. In fact, his uncle inspired Devaram to pursue nursing as a profession.
Devaram feels fortunate enough to not have faced any major hardships in his life. Since he belonged to a farmer’s family, he had a very sweet and simple childhood. Once he completed his studies, he worked at very renowned hospitals like Sterling Hospitals and Apollo Hospitals, and later he caught a good pace with life.
While at the RNT Medical College and Hospital, Devaram was recognized as the ‘Employee of the Year.’
Since 2011, Devaram has given due importance to yoga and actively practices it. He has participated in state and national-level competitions in yoga and also achieved a gold medal in them.
To date, Devaram has been actively participating in spreading awareness for yoga programs in Udaipur. He aspires to achieve a count wherein every house in Udaipur starts practicing yoga and reap its benefits.
He urges everyone to give their best in whatever they do, and they shall succeed in it.
Devaram advises the aspirants of the nursing field that this is a good field to earn money and work in the service of the betterment of people at the same time. This field makes you compassionate towards the pain of others. He shares that if we give 100% in nursing, we will get 101% success in it. Along with the government job offers, this career has a great scope in private jobs too. But all this depends on the hard work and dedication we put into it.
He gives a parting message to the youth of the nation that we must give the utmost priority to our health by practicing yoga. You’ll be able to manage your stress and other modern-day issues by giving forty-five minutes daily to meditation, pranayam, etc. Devaram urges that if we are healthy, everything will fall into place eventually.
