Dev Chouhan overcame numerous struggles to establish himself in the Bollywood dance industry. He has worked on over 170 album songs and received several prestigious awards including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Gujarat Gifa Award.

Dev Chouhan is a Choreographer-Director from Mount Abu in Rajasthan currently working in the Bollywood industry in Mumbai.

Dev Chouhan was a finalist in the ZEE Rajasthan Talent Hunt. He also earned a place among the top 100 participants in the Dance India Dance TV show. Today, Chauhan has established himself as a Bollywood choreographer- director, having worked on album songs in various languages including Punjabi, Hindi, Haryanvi and Gujarati. He has won prestigious awards such as the DadaSaheb Phalke Award and the Gujarat GIFA Award. In addition to these, he has performed in numerous shows and received many accolades. To date, he has choreographed and directed over 170 album songs. Currently, he is focused on working for OTT  series and is working hard to achieve that goal.

His journey began in 2010 when he developed a strong interest in Dance and wanted to carve out a unique identity for himself, distinct from the crowd. Before discovering Dance, Dev had explored various other fields but did not find success in them. However, after watching dance shows on television, such as Dance India Dance, Boogie Woogie, and others, he realized that he could achieve something similar. He dreamed of making a name for himself in the dance industry and bringing pride to his family.

He was inspired by the success stories he saw on TV, and with a newfound determination, he decided to pursue his passion for dance seriously. His ambition and hard work eventually led him to establish himself as a successful choreographer- director in the competitive Bollywood industry.

Dev Chouhan shares that to prove himself, he chose dance as his path, but it wasn’t easy. He faced many struggles, starting with the lack of support from everyone and even not knowing where to learn dance from. At that time, there were very few dance classes, and their fees were beyond what he could afford. Despite those challenges, he persisted and joined a dance group.

Initially, he was always placed at the back of the group, and out of ten members, he was the tenth. Even after learning a lot, he faced many rejections and was often trolled. However, Dev did not give up. He kept trying, attending numerous auditions, and eventually, through his hard work and determination, he achieved success. Everything he has accomplished today is the result of his relentless effort and the support of his family.

When it comes to his inspirations, Dev Chouhan says he considers Dharmesh, a renowned choreographer, as his dance guru and idol. It was watching Dharmesh that motivated him to learn dance. Chouhan also shares that he completed his education up to the seventh grade, as he wasn’t particularly interested in academics and chose to focus on his passion for dance instead.

Regarding role models, Dev Chouhan says he considers his parents as his biggest inspirations. Although his father is no longer with him today, he was always a guiding force who taught him the importance of never giving up and proving himself. From his parents, he learned the invaluable lesson of getting up after falling and demonstrating his worth in front of others.

The song,

“रुक जाना नहीं तू कहीं हार के, काँटो पे चल के मिलेंगे साये बहार के” ….

…. is the most motivational and inspiring for him. He believes that stopping means forgetting your potential, but it’s only by continuing forward that you can achieve something meaningful.

When reflecting on his struggles, Dev Chouhan says that real struggle is what his father went through, raising six children. As for himself, he feels that his struggles were simply part of his journey. He worked hard, attended auditions, practiced dance in gardens, taught dance in small places, and danced at the back of groups. This was his struggle—working his way up from the crowd to prove himself. For him, the true struggle was what his parents went through to raise him, and it's because of their sacrifices that he stands where he is today.

To new aspirants, Dev Chouhan advises them that there is vast potential in the dance industry, especially with social media booming. He encourages aspiring dancers to learn through platforms like YouTube, as it offers plenty of resources to get started. Once they have learned the basics, they need to prove themselves by stepping out of their small towns or cities and heading to bigger metro cities. These cities host many auditions, so he urges aspiring dancers to compete and showcase their talent. He firmly believes that if one gives 100% effort, success is inevitable.

He also emphasizes the importance of staying away from addictions and focusing on family. He advises the youth to nurture their cultural values and avoid self-destructive behavior, such as indulging in drugs, which could ruin their future.

Lastly, he invites everyone to connect with him through his Instagram and Facebook handles, Dev Chouhan Mount, where he is active and ready to engage with his followers.
