She explains that the basic idea of insurance revolves around planning for children’s education, marriages, retirement, and personal protection. Their role is to understand clients’ needs and provide suitable financial solutions accordingly.

Her daily responsibility is to meet four to five new people and create awareness about why insurance is necessary and why saving is important in life.

BM Deepti Chouhan shares that her career has been full of awards, so many that she does not have enough space at home or office to keep them. However, some achievements are closer to her heart than awards. Her first foreign trip, when she took her mother to Singapore, was a major achievement. Later, she took her father on a trip. After marriage, she took her husband to Hong Kong and her mother-in-law and sister-in-law to Istanbul and Dubai. These memories are more precious than trophies because they represent moments she earned and cherished.

She believes awards give a special energy and motivate a person to keep moving forward. Whenever someone feels directionless, setting a goal to win an award can provide renewed purpose.

Speaking about life insurance, Deepti Chouhan says that it is something nobody wants to buy, but when someone actually needs it, it becomes the most important thing. It is a product that is difficult to sell but very important to purchase. When people do not feel an immediate need, they do not value insurance much. However, when the real requirement arises, they may not be able to buy it due to health issues or other reasons, and sometimes a person may not even be alive to purchase it. Therefore, she advises everyone to consult an expert, calculate their financial shortfall, and secure their family’s protection without delay.

Axis Max Life Insurance Branch Manager Deepti Chouhan shares that she did not willingly choose the field of life insurance initially; rather, the office attracted her. In 2007, when she was 19 years old and in her first year of college, she noticed a completely red office near Shastri Circle while going to college. She found it very attractive and decided to go upstairs to see it. It was a corporate service office that functioned as a channel partner of Kotak Life Insurance. She joined the company as a coordinator and initially had no plans to enter sales. However, when she observed couples coming in for discussions and saw how financial plans were explained to them, she found the role interesting. She noticed that the job mainly involved meaningful conversations. Since she had always enjoyed talking to people, she realized she could build a career through communication. What began as a coincidence gradually became the aim of her life. She enjoys meeting new people, having conversations over tea or coffee, although she personally does not drink tea, and building connections. She continues to enjoy this even today.

Over the years, her roles and responsibilities changed as she earned promotions. She started as a Sales Manager, then moved to Super Sales Manager, then Senior Sales Manager, and now she manages an independent branch. She leads her own office with a team that goes into the market, builds agencies, and connects with customers to sell insurance products. Despite the changing roles, her ultimate purpose has always been to provide security and financial protection to people and encourage savings.

She believes choosing this field was a coincidence, but staying consistent in it was her considered decision. Her motivation has always been that one can earn well in this field and gain immense knowledge. By meeting four to five new people every day from different professions such as doctors, businessmen, teachers, and homemakers, she gains valuable real-life learning. She shares that when she first joined, she had not completed her MBA. Later, when she pursued her MBA, she realized that many concepts she studied in books were things she had already experienced in real life. She feels she first lived the MBA experience and then formally studied it.

Deepti Chouhan was born and brought up in Zawar Mines near Udaipur. She also remembers a beautiful temple of Jawar Mata there. She began her schooling at Immanuel Mission School but later shifted to Kendriya Vidyalaya. At that time, studying at Kendriya Vidyalaya was considered a matter of pride. She proudly says she is a KV student, as KV Zawar Mines was regarded as a top school in that area.

Although Zawar Mines was a small place, it had excellent facilities and was often called ‘Mini Mumbai’. Even today, when someone hears the name Zawar Mines, people from there feel connected. Many of her golden memories are associated with that place. She believes childhood is the best phase of life because at that time one does not understand the impact of their actions, yet those memories remain the most beautiful.

Deepti Chouhan has an elder sister and a younger brother. Since childhood, she has loved being surrounded by people. Her mother used to say that she enjoyed being in a crowd. She was very fond of celebrating birthdays and often invited all her friends without prior planning, leaving her mother to arrange everything suddenly.

She completed her 12th from KV Zawar Mines. When she entered her first year of college, her family shifted to Udaipur and built their house in Pratap Nagar. Initially, she chose to pursue BCA because she believed computer literacy was the future of India. While in her first year of BCA in 2007, she coincidentally joined the insurance office, which eventually became her career. After completing BCA from Rajasthan Vidhyapeeth, she realized that her interest lay in Sales and decided to pursue an MBA. Since she was working continuously and could not attend regular college, she chose distance learning from Symbiosis institute, Pune, and completed her MBA alongside her job.

Regarding role models, she believes they change over time. In childhood, she admired Salman Khan. Later, she learned from various leaders. Eventually, she realized that her role models should belong to her own field so that she could grow by following their philosophy. She made her seniors and colleagues in insurance her role models. Observing their growth motivated her to follow their path. She believes that choosing a role model from one’s own field helps in practical growth, just like cricketers follow successful players from cricket.

When asked about her favorite quote, she recalls the song line,

“इक ज़िंदगी, सौ ख़्वाहिशें, इक-इक मैं पूरी करूँ।”

She believes life is one but desires are many, and through the insurance profession, both clients and advisors can fulfill many of those desires. People who join the profession can earn well and even qualify for foreign trips, fulfilling personal dreams.

Chouhan also shares that the most important part of the Insurance field is when someone passes away. In such situations, they provide financial protection to the family, sometimes in amounts of one crore, two crores, three crores, or even ten lakhs. When she hands over such claim cheques, she feels immense pride. At that moment, the song line “रुकी रुकी थी ज़िंदगी, झट से चल पड़ी।” comes to her heart because financial support helps the family move forward again. She considers insurance a noble profession because it provides help in the most difficult times.

Chouhan believes that in any job or business, there must be downs to truly experience ups. She has faced many down phases in her career. However, from the beginning, she believed in the tagline “Born to Win.” During tough times, she practiced patience, positivity, and affirmations, believing that the universe listens. She considers tough phases as learning periods that strengthen a person.

For newcomers, she advises not to judge a book by its cover. Insurance may appear difficult because it involves sales, but she explains that sales exist in everyday life. When a mother convinces her child to brush teeth, she is selling the idea of hygiene by explaining its benefits. She believes that once a person learns insurance sales, they can succeed in any field of sales. Graduation is required, but extensive expertise is not. Confidence, good presentation, and communication skills are enough. She encourages everyone to try this field because it offers unlimited earning potential and numerous awards.

For women, she proudly shares that 80 to 85 percent of employees in her company are women. She believes Indian women are capable of succeeding in every field. She advises women to sit with their husbands during financial discussions, listen carefully, and gain knowledge. She reminds them of the traditional habit of saving money and says saving is a woman’s strength. At the same time, they should stay cautious about digital fraud but remain open to learning from financial advisors.

She says the government is also strongly promoting insurance awareness, especially after COVID, when many people realized its importance. She encourages youngsters to at least listen when someone talks about SIPs and savings, because listening is the first step toward awareness.

Insurance Expert Deepti Chouhan explains that ideally, a person’s insurance value should be about 20 times their annual income. This ensures financial liquidity for the family in case of an unfortunate event. She clarifies that insurance is not only about death benefits. Modern policies also offer living benefits and income returns. She encourages people to understand the bigger picture of insurance and welcome advisors with an open mind.

Recently, she completed building her dream house. For others it may be called a villa, but for her it is a home. She has named it ‘Shree Vatsa’.

She loves traveling, visiting temples, and living a spiritual life. She believes that in every aspect of life there is the presence of Radha Rani.
