Being passionate about Table Tennis, Deepak pursued his career in sports. He went to London and played for the British League too. Currently, he is the director of Rajasthan's top sports academy in Udaipur.

Deepak Dangi is the Director at Vaikuntha Sports Academy and he has been running this academy for the last five years. Initially he started with just three sports: badminton, table tennis and squash. Currently, it is fully equipped with almost all the sports and games including art, music and dance. His academy has become the first professional private sports academy in Rajasthan.

Deepak did his schooling from Alok School, Udaipur and started playing table tennis when he was in 8th class. Being inspired by his friend, he also played TT at the district level and within eight months he won the Rajasthan Under Fourteen Championship. In the same year, he got selected for Top Ten India and played pre-quarter finals at the national level. That is how his journey in sports started. He played nationals, districts and several open tournaments and won many of those titles.

In his college time, Deepak played All India University and Inter-University tournaments and brought laurels to his college and university. But due to lack of scope for sports in India, Deepak decided to pursue studies and went to London, UK for further studies thinking he would stop playing now.

While studying, Deepak saw a lot of scope in games and sports there in London so he started playing his game again. He did a professional degree course alongside playing his game and got selected for the British League too. Eventually, he opened his own huge academy there in Landsberg called TT Sports Club in which he had six teams of his own that were playing in the London Central League and he himself was playing for the British League. Gradually he participated in the London Youth Games and worked as a team manager in the London Olympics.

After five years, Deepak came back to Udaipur with a thought of entering into a corporate job and had given several interviews. Since he was overqualified and could not get the salary he deserves, he decided to pursue sports as a career. He also experienced that despite having several government sports institutes, Rajasthan lacked training at the professional level. So finally he  launched his sports academy in Udaipur.

Deepak borrowed a lot of funds from the market to build his academy. But with God's grace, his academy started getting full within a month and gradually it became popular in the city. He paid all his debts within a year and even helped poor students who could not afford the fees and equipment. He helped them by providing sponsorships to encourage them.

Deepak belongs to Udaipur. Although he was a naughty kid in his childhood, he was good at studies and very fond of games. Since he did not come from a well-to-do family, he could not get any professional training, support and guidance to pursue his career in sports.

Talking about hardships, Deepak had gone through a lot when he started playing TT and because of not having money he could not buy proper equipment to play. Yet he managed somehow and won titles. Moving forward, he prepared for CAT dedicatedly, appeared in it twice  but could not clear it. After working hard, he got selected in the UK and went there. As he could not ask for money from home, he did part time jobs during the recession. But slowly he established himself there.

Deepak suggests to sportsmen that there is scope in games other than cricket also and if you have the will power and skills, then you can definitely go ahead in it. He advises them to even set up a small sports academy as people are getting inclined towards sports and physical fitness now-a-days. So there is a good scope in the sports field in the future.

If Deepak gets a chance to go back in life and change something, then he would go back to the time he started playing TT and take proper training to bring glory to the country.

Deepak advises today’s parents to support their children in choosing their career as per their interests. Because only academic degrees are not the brightest options to become successful rather sports have a very bright future ahead. They can get government jobs in sports quota at state and central levels.

Deepak suggests everyone to spare an hour daily to play any sport as to maintain your physical fitness. Because there is nothing more important than health and if you are not healthy you won’t be able to do anything else. Sports also teaches you to be disciplined and maintain good public relations.
