Remembering the time of her childhood, Deepa says that she is from Lucknow and her childhood was spent in Lucknow only. She got her schooling there. She has done her graduation in Music from the Kumaon University in Nainital. She was very active in music competitions in her school itself. Her mother was also very fond of music. Her mother was a folk singer and was associated with Radio and Doordarshan. She feels that she got the inclination towards music from her mother. She endeavors to remain active in the music industry and wants to be a singer as long as she can.

Deepa says as her husband is in the defense services, so they have lived at many places across the country. Wherever her husband was posted, she used to be very active in social welfare services there. Then she got the opportunity to be associated with television. She also follows Bhajan Samrat Anoop Jalota a lot. Once in her childhood, she got the chance to see Anoop Jalota at her Guru’s place.  She met him again a few years ago and got the chance to present her talent in front of him.

After this, being very impressed with Deepa's talent, he released a ghazal with her in 2021 through the  Red Ribbon Company. In 2022, she recorded three solo songs, one of which is in "Kumaoni" language. In this way,  her commercial singing started. She is also optimistic about many Bollywood projects and local “Kumaoni” music in the future.

When asked about her mistakes, Deepa says once she gave an audition for radio  and was selected for the same, but she couldn’t go to Almora Radio Station because she had to move to Chennai after her marriage. She regrets missing that chance and says she learned her lesson to be attentive in future .

Speaking about her role models, Deepa says she considers her guru late Vinod Chatterjee as her role model. She seeks inspiration from many legendary singers like Farida Khanam, Ghulam Ali and Anup Jalota, of various genres like ghazal, bhajan and many more. She says her mother was also a singer and she used to learn and sing with her. She has learned so much music from her mother.

Deepa’s life mantra is “Never give up.” She says she will continue to try and be active in the field of music as long as she can.

Deepa suggests to the new entrants to the field of music that if they really want to follow a career in the music field, then from the beginning they should have a good mentor who can show them the right path. She also advises students to pursue their goals fearlessly and with all their hearts, without being intimidated by the competition.
