Debapriya Ghosh is a practitioner of Hindustani vocal classical music. She is the founder of the Debi-Shastriya Sur Sadhana. She has been teaching music for the last 25 years.
Debapriya belongs to Kolkata. She did her master's in vocal classical music. She also holds an MBA in Supply Chain Management from IIMM.
Recalling her childhood, Debapriya says that she had a loving, caring, and very disciplined childhood.
Debapriya shares that her journey has been satisfying. She started learning music from her mother, and then she further learned music under the guidance of her gurus. She pursued music along with her academics. She remembers spending 12 hours practicing music with her guru during her vacations. She also got the chance to meet some brilliant musicians such as Zakir Hussain, Girija Devi, Amjad Ali Khan, and many more while learning from her gurus.
Talking about her mistakes, Debapriya says that she started too late in the vocal music profession. However, she feels elated that she started her own music academy. She has learned to take a risk for something she wants to do.
Sharing about her achievements, Debapriya says that she has worked at Tata Projects Limited in supply chain management for a long period of time. She was also running her music school side by side. Soon, her school started gaining popularity, and more students were coming to learn. So she decided to leave her job and fully devote herself to the management of her school. Learning from her guru has been her biggest accomplishment.
When asked about her role models, Debapriya says that her mother and her guru have been inspirational to her, and she has learned a lot from them.
In times of mental stress, Debapriya relies on music and spirituality.
