Darshan became an art director of film and event sets to satisfy his desire to explore, travel, and learn about the world in a way that was more fulfilling than working in a confined environment.

Darshan Singh Grewal is an art director who does films, events, and festivals. He has a background in architecture but chose direction as a career to have more freedom and to express his creativity.

Darshan shares that while he was doing his thesis on "Residential Institutes for Mentally Challenged Children,"  he realized that developing a space is not a linear process. He gradually developed an interest in life, let alone space and things. This was when he started traveling to explore himself and different cultures and regions across India.

Darshan started his creative journey working on small projects like visual arts, doodling, craft development, and art insolation. He also indulges in poetry to express himself from time to time. Darshan is equally involved in photo essays and cinematography.

Born and brought up in Patiala, Darshan shares that he studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya and has had a keen interest in sports, art and craft, and scouting since his childhood. He recalls an incident wherein he accidentally ended up burning his bed while playing with fire sticks. In a media-arrested household, Darshan was inclined more towards stories and people's expressions. While his father wanted him to get a well-paid job, Darshan’s inclination  was more towards adventure, creativity, and taking risks.

Talking about his challenges, Darshan says that convincing his parents and making them understand what drives him in life was a difficult affair. He adds that he also faced certain financial challenges, which he eventually overcame.

When asked about his mistakes, Darshan says that labeling something as a mistake differs from person to person. He adds that there have been times when he was low on confidence, which he could have tackled with the right knowledge and an introspective mindset. Darshan laments that, owing to his confused mindset, he lost a person in his life. At the same time, he is happy not to have lost himself in the process.

Sharing his achievements, Darshan says that his attitude towards life and his celebration of little things despite unfavorable circumstances have made him grow as an individual. He adds that looking at things from a spiritual perspective has helped eliminate those barricades that hampered his mental peace and space, and he considers these his achievements.

Talking about his role models, Darshan says that before you look at the outside world, there is a guiding light within each one of us that navigates us towards the right path. He adds that he has met people in his life who have changed his perspective and expanded his point of view.

Darshan is inspired by the quote, "There are as many paths to God as there are souls on the Earth." He also believes that simplicity is the only truth.

In his message to aspiring artists, Darshan says that they should be sensitive towards life and lose themselves in the art process to derive real joy from it. He adds that art is a beautiful journey to undertake, both professionally and spiritually.
