Cyrus works as the Creative Content Creator at NDTV Gadget 360 related to the tech and auto industry. He came across a lot of emotional traumas in his corporate life for which he sought help and so he suggests everyone to do the same instead of hurting yourself.

Cyrus John has been working as a Deputy Video Head at NDTV Gadget 360. He is responsible for creating and managing the creative video content related to tech news, reviews and features by visualizing and supervising all the content that goes on their video platforms and Youtube channel.

Cyrus faced some challenges in his childhood as back then his family was not so affluent and had economical challenges but he always aspired about materialistic things for which he used to battle it out with his parents to get what he wanted. In school, he was an average student throughout and after 8th, it was never a smooth ride for him to clear the school. After going to college, he regained his senses about the importance of studies and started developing his personality as he already knew that he wanted to go into the media field.

Cyrus did his B.A. from Delhi University and a certification course in Broadcast Journalism and Radio Jockey from YMCA and from there, things started going well for him. He started his career with live cricket commentary for Star Sports. In 2015, he joined NDTV in the field of Technology and TV Production. After two years, he got associated with digital media through ‘Quint’ in its tech and automobile department and gradually started creating creative content for its online platforms and web portals.

Discussing Covid, Cyrus says, even such big companies were shaken badly as a result of which several employees got fired but luckily he was retained as he was an all-rounder. But he was asked to do news which he abhorred and he decided he could not work further in this manner. Meanwhile, he got an opportunity to work with BGR, a Zee Entertainment unit, but even there he could not stay for long. Yet again he came to NDTV and joined its new venture called Gadget 360 and he is working there till date.

Cyrus suggests that as a professional, if you want to work in any field be it media, corporate sector or banking, you will have to struggle and face many challenges because you will find people with whom you could not bond well and you will always be looked down upon. So be mentally prepared to overcome it easily. Also, don’t let go any opportunity to work with a big brand even if the profile is not up to the mark, just grab that opportunity, learn its culture and try to imbibe it in yourself so that you can get a lifetime experience to become a great professional.

The biggest challenge for Cyrus was he did not have many people to reach out to or any mentors who could guide him in the difficult times of his career. But he opened up about his problem and didn’t hesitate to ask for help which helped him overcome it.

Cyrus believes that Journalism is evolving these days as it captures the television and digital platforms entirely. Social media is the main reason for getting journalism to boom as it is so vast and has different communication ways that people are developing each day. He believes that visual platforms have a bright future ahead because watching a video is a lot more convenient than reading an article.

About achievements, Cyrus says that in his P.G., he secured a seat in Development Communication at ‘Jamia MCRC’, one of the premier Journalism Institutes in India. He even topped that institute and won a gold medal which he considers to be his biggest achievement. And, coming on television was an achievement too.

Talking about mistakes that Cyrus would want to correct is that he never took anybody seriously and as a result he failed to build good corporate relationships with people and carry them forward. So he regrets it.

In terms of role models, Cyrus says he considers himself as his role model but he takes inspiration from everyone he meets and tries to learn things they are good at. So he thinks that having the right people around you is an inspiration in itself as you aspire to be like them someday. He is highly inspired by Ronaldo, because of his life struggles and his journey from being nothing to the best in the world.

If Cyrus had a time machine he would like to go back to time when he was nine years old with the same consciousness and intelligence so as to have a smooth ride ahead.

Cyrus has been fond of playing football since his childhood. Other than this, he likes playing guitar and video games. He is into reading too and is passionate about maintaining a good physique so he works out on a regular basis.
