C. P. Talesara belongs to the first ever batch of electronics engineers in India. He has been highly successful as an entrepreneur.

C. P. Talesara is the Managing Director of Pyrotech Electronics Pvt. Ltd. based in Udaipur. He is a technocrat and a B.Tech from BITS Pilani. He belongs to the first ever batch of engineers in electronics in India. Later he did M.Tech from IIT-Bombay in Instrumentation and Computer Control.

After completing his studies, he joined a company in 1975 in Pune where he worked for a year and then shifted to another company in Mumbai where he remained for four years. While he was working in these companies, he was simultaneously designing electronics products for Pyrotech. Later, he full-fledgedly joined Pyrotech. He has been designing and manufacturing electronic products for the last 40 years now. His products have been tested in the field and have been used in cement, steel, power and other plants successfully.

His company Pyrotech was the first company to be recognized for R&D by the Department of Science & Technology in 1981. In 1992 they received the Excellence Award from the Department of Electronics. In 1993 they were awarded for their excellent R&D activities. He claims that by their innovative and pioneering products they have saved a lot of foreign exchange for the country as importing them was no longer needed.

Mr. Talesara did his schooling from K.G to 11th class from St.Paul’s School in Udaipur. He recalls with pride that when he passed the 11th Board Exams, CBSE board had just been constituted and he, along with a friend of his, was an All India Rank Holder. He and his friend were felicitated by the education minister in a function  in Delhi’s Ashoka Hall. In his school days he was a keen sports person with interest in Hockey and T.T. He has great reverence for his principal who taught him discipline and punctuality.

Mr. Talesara remembers the time when he had started his electronics venture in Udaipur. There were four partners and just one employee. Finding personnel skilled in electronics was very difficult at that time. He says whenever anyone was stuck with an electronics problem or any company had problems with electronic equipment, he was called to solve the problem. He was successful in solving the problems and restarting the factories on several occasions.

Mr.Talesara is a happy man and he says he has not had any struggles in life. He likes to attack a problem as soon as it emerges and does not take rest before it is solved.

Mr.Talesara says that earlier the best stuff of any school went for engineering, next to medical and the mediocre ones went for the arts. But, he thinks nowadays the best students are doing arts and going for IAS and IPS. He feels the new generation of engineers lacks passion and true interest. Employability is low and most of the new engineers passing out just have degrees but they hardly know anything meaningful. They also lack practical exposure. In his opinion when we talk about education or importance, if one is sincere in one then they are also sincere in the other.

If he is put into a time machine and taken back in life he would not change anything as he is satisfied with his life. However, he would like to relive his BITS Pilani days.

In his free time, he listens to music. He is also a regular walker and does daily exercises. He likes travelling and also his wife’s company, and has travelled to many countries in the world. When he was President of the Udaipur Chamber of Commerce & Industry, he organised two trips for members to Dubai and South Africa. He is also a sleep lover and steals a nap whenever possible. He says he is an introvert and has very few friends.

When asked about his life mantra he says he wants to do business honestly. He says he can never cheat or overcharge his customers. And, due to this, he has had loyal customers for several years who have given him 5,000 to 10,000 orders in the last several years. He states with pride that his is one of the few companies who have survived this long in the electronics sector. He says that he has loyal customers and also loyal employees. There is no employee union in his company and there has never been any work strike in his company.

For the newcomers his message is that they must have passion for their work as nothing in life is easy and that they shall always try to work without compromising on quality.
