Chhogalal Bhoi is a ward councillor in Udaipur Nagar Nigam. He is also the chairman of the Nigam’s Anti-Encroachment Committee.
Chhogalal is from a small village near Bhinder in Vallabhnagar Tehsil near Udaipur. He studied in the village school till 5th class. Then he came to Udaipur and studied till the 10th standard. As he was not good in studies, his elders advised him to do ITI. After doing ITI he got a job in Rajasthan Roadways where he worked for five years.
As his dreams were big he was not satisfied with his job. He quit the secured government job to do business. For some time he took labour contracts in cement factories. Then he established his cable TV business with the name Mewar Cable which has been running successfully for the last 25 years. He is happy and satisfied that he has thousands of subscribers to his Den Mewar Cable from all over Udaipur.
Chhogalal has also built a hotel which is doing good business. Now his son looks after the hotel business. As his son took over the business he felt free and got inclined towards social service. So he fought and won the election of ward councillor. Now he is happy helping people and solving their problems.
Everything was going good but suddenly Corona struck. People’s livelihoods were affected severely during the lockdown. He, along with the mayor and other councillors, distributed food and rations among the poor and needy and labourers who had lost their jobs. He says that after a certain age your interest in the daily affairs of your family diminishes and you get driven towards social work. However, his family was concerned that due to his activities he might get Corona infection. But, he says, by God's grace nothing happened to him.
Talking about leadership he says he was a born leader. Even when he was young, if there was any work, he collected some people and led them to do the work.
About today’s youth he is of the opinion that they talk too much but do little. He thinks they would just write big things in social media posts but are unwilling to act in the field. His advice is that the youth should be active in the field.
Chhogalal says he saw many films and was inspired by the heroism of stars like Amitabh, Dharmendra and Jackie Shroff. He boasts that even at 63 he looks young. He says that due to his charm he makes friends with people of any age. He maintains friendships as he thinks friends come to your help in need. He has kept the child inside him alive.
His life mantra is to keep on doing good deeds.
