Success can never be denied if efforts are put in synergistically.
Chirag Mehta is the Founder of Thalagiri and Habitus Ventures- a Co-working Space in Udaipur.
Chirag was born and raised in Udaipur. He received his school education from Central Academy and The Study. After that, he completed a B.Tech. in Computer Science in 2014.
Chirag shares that by the time he completed high school, he had a clear understanding of what he wanted to pursue next. He was always fascinated with Photography. He would visit and take part in photography exhibitions.
However, due to family and societal pressure, he had to pursue Engineering as he had opted for the Science-Math stream in high school. Along with Engineering, he also pursued his interest in Photography. Besides, he also picked up YouTube vlogging and did well in that.
Everything was going as per his plans and he was also about to complete his Engineering but things changed when his father fell ill and owing to that he was required to look after his parental business. But his parental business didn’t quite appeal to him and he thought of doing something of his own. That’s when he came up with the idea of Thalagiri.
Chirag shares that Thalagiri is a slang used in the local dialect which means not doing anything. He says that the whole idea behind conceiving Thalagiri was to facilitate a platform for people to pursue their creative interests like Painting, Drawing, Writing, Photography, etc. In 2015, he finally founded Thalagiri and also registered its domain name on the Internet.
Talking about Covid, Chirag says that during the first wave of the pandemic, he did well in his business and also shifted his team to work from home. However, he says that the second wave of the pandemic was more threatening and during that time he teamed up with like-minded people and formed a group named “Udaipur Against Corona”which later witnessed many people joining it. He says that the group worked in its best capacity to extend help to the needy during the tough times.
Chirag considers his mother his biggest inspiration. He says that his mother has always supported him and took care of his family tirelessly at all odds. Besides, he also considers Ratan Tata as his biggest inspiration.
Chirag shares that he never really valued formal education until he did an LLB. He says that when he pursued his LLB, he realized that education teaches you things in a short span of time which experience would take years otherwise.
Chirag thinks that Entrepreneurship as a discipline should be taught in educational institutes. He says that a person can do wonders in their life if they are given the right guidance and education.
Being able to provide a platform with his venture for people to pursue their creative interests is his biggest achievement to date, Chirag says.
In his spare time, Chirag likes to do Wildlife Photography and watch Sci-Fi movies.
Chirag thinks that he is a born leader. He says at school and college he would participate in a lot of extra-curricular activities which is a testament to his leadership qualities. His leadership style is to give leeway to his team members to make their own decisions.
Chirag has no regrets in life whatsoever and even if given a chance to go back in time, he would not want to change anything in his past. However, he would want to relive his school and college days which are the best periods of his life.
To people, his message is that if you possess a skill and you’re good at something then never do anything for free as things that come free are not always valued. Besides, he says to people that instead of chasing money they should value ethics and values as money is not everything.
