Chetan Kumawat is posted as the Principal of the Zonal Railway Training Institute in Udaipur. He looks after the initial promotion, training and refresher courses of Group-C Railway employees.
Chetan belongs to Manda Bhimsingh village in Phulera tehsil of Jaipur. He says that back in those days, education was not given much importance. So he used to go to the Anganwadi School in his village just for the snacks provided there. Then he studied in the Government School of his village till the 11th std as a class topper. Further, he did his graduation from the Agriculture College in his village. Alongside, he vigorously started preparing for various competitive exams and even cleared five of them. Eventually, he ended up choosing Railways.
Chetan got his first Group-C posting as a Traffic Apprentice in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. He kept on trying for a job in Group-B. After ten years, he got selected for a Group-B posting as an Area Officer in Nandurbar district in Maharashtra. After working there for three years, due to reorganization of the Railways, he was transferred to Jaipur. Again from there, he was posted as Operations Manager in Bikaner. After four-and-a-half years, he was promoted to the post of Divisional Operations Manager at Jaipur Division. Then he got promoted frequently and finally landed in Udaipur as a Principal at the Zonal Railways Training Institute.
Recalling his childhood memories, Chetan says that coming from a farming family, he also did farming in his childhood. He says that despite living in deprivation, he lived his childhood to the fullest. He got married at the age of seven.
When asked about his role models, Chetan says that he considers himself as a source of inspiration because he has believed in himself and has been able to reach where he is today on the strength of his own hard work. Besides, he has been greatly influenced by Sadguru, a spiritual master. He also gives the credit of his success to his wife for always standing by him and supporting him in every situation.
Talking about his achievements, Chetan says that during his tenure as a DCM in Bikaner, he did so well that the department was honored with a shield for three consecutive years. That is no less than an achievement for him. Apart from this, he solved a disputed matter that led the department to get forty-eight lakh rupees in return. That was his biggest achievement and a proud moment for him.
Chetan says that he had five hundred trainees under his supervision during the COVID pandemic. It was quite challenging for him to arrange food for them and keep them safe. After getting some relief from the lockdown, he sent those young students to their hometowns with the help of the state government.
Chetan loves listening to spiritual people in his spare time.
If Chetan could go back in time through a Time Machine, he would have left everything behind to become a saint.
To youth, Chetan says that if you have faith in yourself then no one can stop you from achieving success. He advises that you should take resolutions keeping your mind steady and you will achieve whatever you want to achieve, without getting distracted. Apart from this, he advises them to especially take care of their health and stay physically fit.
