Coming from a non-musical family, Chetan had to work hard to become a flutist. He believes that it is important for artists to always respect their gurus.

Chetan Joshi is a flutist who has been working in this field for the last 40 years.

Chetan Joshi was born in Jharia, Jharkhand. He has been working for the improvement and enhancement of Indian culture. He is also working in different fields of music like music direction, music arrangement, etc. His workplace was Bokaro Steel City. He got his initial education in music in Bokaro. He learned from different gurus like Acharya Jagdish, Pt. Bholanath Prasnna, and Pt. Raghunath Seth, and is currently taking guidance from Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty.

Speaking about his childhood, Chetan says that he grew up in a middle-class family and that he didn’t have any background in music. He feels that nature has plans for everyone, and that it had decided for him to become a flutist. He is still learning and wants to learn throughout his life.

When asked about his challenges, Chetan says that he had to face many challenges in his journey of learning how to play the flute. As he didn’t come from a musical background, there was no one to guide him. He always had a monetary constraint that had both advantages and drawbacks. The advantage was that he realized the value of learning things in his field. He used to work hard to learn music. He is satisfied with the lessons he has learned from the gurus in his life.

Speaking about his mistakes, Chetan says that everybody makes mistakes and learns new things from them. He always tried not to repeat the same mistake again. Earlier, he was not familiar with how to do the riyaz. From these mistakes now he is able to find out new and simple ways for the students to learn flute. He says that he learned from his mistakes and always tries to improve upon them.

Chetan believes that a person achieves at every step of life, as perfection comes from practice, and practice is what leads to achievements. In terms of achievements, he says by the grace of his gurus and parents, he got the "Rajkiya Sanskritik Samman" in 2006. He also received various awards from different organizations, and from that list, the latest award is the "Sangeet Natak Academy Award" for the year 2019.

Chetan believes that every student must have a role model working in any field, as it makes the journey of life easier. His role model was Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, and he studied his life in depth and tried to follow his path. In the field of music, his role model was Pt. Bholanath Prasanna.

When asked how he beats stress, Chetan says that he loves to write poetry in order to find out the solutions to the problems. He writes poetry for himself only.

His life mantra is that he strives to improve himself at all times and does not want to waste a single day. He has a competition with himself and always monitors whether he is upgrading or not in order to set a benchmark to measure.
