Chandra Prakash Yadav is a blue pottery ceramist from Jaipur. He says, Padma Shri awardee blue pottery ceramist Shri Kripal Singh Shekhawat and his father, Prabhu Dayal Yadav, taught him the craft.
According to Chandra Prakash, after learning from and working for Kripal Singh Shekhawat, his father established his own workshop.
Remembering his childhood, Chandra Prakash says he had been watching his father practice blue pottery since he was young. His father used to give him some small inducements to try his hand at this art so that he would take an interest in it. Gradually, he started taking the art seriously and learned the nuances of the art from his father.
According to Chandra Prakash, he and his father made many changes to the art over time. At his workshop, he trains students from reputed art institutes and art groups.
Describing his challenges, Chandra Prakash says that earlier, an artist used to get orders for production through an art club or any other source, but with time he realized that he needed to increase his online reach to increase his sales. He says going online has increased general awareness among people around the world and helped him get the right value for his art.
Sharing about his accomplishments, Chandra Prakash says that he always ensures that they produce the best artwork for his clients and that he feels accomplished when they acknowledge his efforts. Numerous organizations have recognised him for his efforts to improve the art.
Describing his experience during the COVID period, Chandra Prakash says that during those days, he and his workers focused on their art and produced many art pieces for their clients. He asserts that engaging in his art saved him from any stress brought on by the COVID period.
When asked about his role models, Chandra Prakash says he considers Kripal Singh Shekhawat, whom he refers to as "Dada Guru," as his role model. His down-to-earth demeanor and method of explaining the intricacies of the art to students in a straightforward manner influenced him.
Prabhu Dayal Yadav, his father and guru, is another person he looks up to because of his love of art, which is always what motivates him the most.
In his spare time, Chandra Prakash enjoys gardening and listening to old Hindi film songs.

Chandra Prakash encourages youngsters to involve themselves in any kind of art because various traditional forms of art give India its distinct identity. The youth should try to spread awareness about Indian culture, art and traditions around the world, he says.
