With over a decade’s experience in teaching, Chanchal is introducing her students to the world of Mathematics which she thinks has a crucial role in understanding life skills.

Chanchal Kumawat is a Mathematics teacher at Abhinav Senior Secondary School. She takes junior classes and believes in teaching Maths by giving real-life examples to students to make learning fun and interesting for them. Chanchal feels that with conceptual clarity and daily practice one can do well in this subject.

Born in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, she completed her schooling and while in her first year, started getting pressure from her grandparents to get married. However, her parents wanted her to study further and so did Chanchal herself. Nevertheless, her grandparents got her married, but this did not stop Chanchal from pursuing her education. With the support of her in-laws, she completed college and thereafter pursued her Bachelor in Education. While teaching her kids at home, she thought of venturing out and making a career. This is when she joined Abhinav School and has been working there for over a decade now.

To become a teacher, Chanchal feels that knowledge and application of that knowledge is a must along with understanding your students. She shares that her Principal always motivated her to do better. She is also inspired by her mother who always wanted her children to achieve something in life that she couldn’t during her time.

Chanchal shares that the COVID phase was a difficult one with a constant fear of her family and students' health and safety. However, reviving back to normalcy after a setback made her feel at peace. She says that seeing her students energized and scoring good marks, makes her feel happy and content to see her efforts win.

Chanchal believes that she has not gained leadership by birth but has inculcated it through passing days and life experiences. She shares that though she felt a little nervous on the first day of her class, she became confident going ahead.

Besides household chores and teaching, in her leisure time, Chanchal likes to enjoy with her kids and watch movies.

If she could go back in a time machine, she would like to relive her childhood days coupled with moments of joy and laughter.

She says if students are unable to perform well in Maths, it means their basic concepts are not clear or they are engaged in rote learning. Chanchal says that the relevance of Maths is immense be it in any business or service sector. She says it is important to understand the value of money and basic life principles which comes with studying Maths.

Chanchal asserts that one should keep trying like an ant that climbs up again even after witnessing failures. This way she believes one can definitely achieve success.
