Chaitanya Maheshwari is a chartered accountant from Indore. He has been working in this field for the past twelve years. He specializes in offering services in the fields of Transfer Pricing and International Taxation.
Born and brought up in “Dr. Ambedkar Nagar” a small town near Indore, that was earlier known as “Mhow”, Chaitanya enjoyed his childhood living in a joint-family. He used to live with his grandparents, parents, including the four brothers of his father and their families. He and his other eleven cousins used to enjoy every single moment of their childhood. His grandfather was among the top lawyers in Mhow. His grandfather was a big influence on the family. His family is still famous in the town because of his grandfather. People still tell his stories and remember him. Chaitanya gives credit to his grandfather and his family for instilling values and ethics in him and his other siblings.
Remembering his school days, Chaitanya says he did most of his schooling at the Army Public School situated in his town. His principal, Mr. Robinson was a strict administrator who taught him to be disciplined in life. Chaitanya had a great impact on his personality because of his school teachers and the activities he used to participate in.
Regarding his education, he informs that he received a degree as a Chartered Accountant and a Diploma in Systems Security and Audit (DISA). Due to his grandfather’s profound influence on him, he pursued an L.L.B. program too.
Describing his professional journey, Chaitanya says that after completing his B.Com., he aimed to become a CA. In pursuit of his aim, at the very first level of chartered accountancy, he qualified the exam with a good rank. Then the second and third levels were qualified by him in a few attempts. He says he has this tendency to do the hardest thing first and then go for the other things. He used to lack English fluency, but because of his efforts, he conquered this challenge too. He had been determined to become a CA since his school days.
Chaitanya says he remembers that in his eleventh standard, for the very first time, he failed his unit test in accounting. This was his first experience facing failure, but as he says, the comeback is important. He says it was good to taste failure, because of which he managed to score more than eighty percent in the twelfth board exam.
To achieve his aim of becoming a CA, he used to do to-and-fro trips to Indore to take CA coaching. He had to travel more than thirty kilometers daily from his town by train and bus.
According to Chaitanya, he developed management skills, such as the ability to handle customers, perseverance, patience, and decision-making abilities, during his articleship with a CA. He moved to Mumbai after completing his articleship to work and study credit analysis with IndusInd Bank, which was also his first employer. Because of the cultural difference, he initially had trouble managing his work life. However, he successfully adapted to Mumbai's work culture after two months. He moved to Bansi S. Mehta & Company to learn taxation after IndusInd Bank.
After his marriage in 2016, Chaitnaya started his CA consulting services in Indore with his wife, who is also a CA. At his firm, he makes sure to provide the best services to his clients and keep his relationships with them for the rest of their lives.
For everyone, Chaitanya’s advice is to remain calm in stressful situations and not react or get into any violent action. As anger would only bring losses, keep yourself calm and controlled in those situations. He seeks inspiration to be calm in such situations from the master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar. He says he learned from Sachin that the best answer to all the people who do not appreciate you is to keep going and achieve your goals.
Chaitanya advises the youth that, to control their anger, they must follow yoga and meditation. He also quotes a few lines from Harivansh Rai Bachchan's poem, Madhushala, and says the youth must follow their aim and not listen to others who distract them from their path. Always chase excellence, focus on your aim. Success is a continuous process, so just put in your efforts and leave it to the Almighty for the results.
