A chemistry teacher who runs an NGO, B.R. Gadi comes from a rural background. He supports the vision of self-reliance, and his key advice is to prioritize education and establish additional income sources, particularly in challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic.

B.R. Gadi teaches chemistry to pre-medical and pre-engineering students. He has also been running an NGO, Samagra Vikas Kalyan Sansthan, for the last five years, where poor children are provided education at a nominal fee.

B.R. Gadi says that he got his education from government schools in Jaisalmer. He wanted to become a doctor. On his first attempt at the entrance exam, he qualified for veterinary studies. But he dropped it as he wanted to pursue M.B.B.S.

Meanwhile, he started teaching chemistry to aspirants for competitive exams and got totally involved in it. He says he made good money by teaching chemistry and managed to fund his NGO with half of his earnings. He says he comes from a rural background, and it was an achievement for him when he did his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, as he was the first from his village to do so.

B.R. Gadi informs us that there are about 350 students in his school, and it was difficult to manage the school during the COVID pandemic. He hopes things will soon get normal again. He says that when he started, he charged only two rupees per day from the students of his school, but now he charges ten rupees per day. Most of the kids belong to families who have migrated from Pakistan, and they live in poor conditions in slums. He has given employment to fifteen people in his school.

B.R. Gadi says he supports the Atma Nirbhar pitch of Prime Minister Modi and propagates Swadeshi and ‘Vocal for Local’.

B.R. Gadi’s message for everyone is that you must work as per a set schedule and have good time management. He believes you should always have company with good people and keep away from negative people.

Reading books is his favorite pastime. He aspires to become a successful entrepreneur.

He advises everyone to get a good education. He thinks COVID has taught us to develop a parallel source of income to sustain ourselves in difficult times.
