Bonita Rajpurohit is an Artist and is also trying to create awareness about Transgender people in our society. She thinks that it may look tough, but closeted people should come out and live a free life.

Bonita shares that she is a Transwoman and due to that she has had to face many struggles in her life. She says that she was born someone she never wanted to be and was living like a trapped person. She was expected to be a man but felt feminine from inside. For years she tried to fit in the molds created by our society but it got tougher for her every passing day.

Bonita says that there was no one around her who she could talk to about her condition. She started researching online and came to know that there were many like her and also came across transition therapies and procedures. The toughest part was opening out to her parents. She showed them interviews of other Transgender people and put in a lot of effort to convince them.

Bonita then started her transition therapy and was happiest the day it started. She feels that it was the best decision of her life.

Bonita says that she is still experimenting with her career path. She is doing theater and at the same time walking the ramp in different fashion shows. She is also doing photoshoots for magazines and short films and series. She and her sister have their own venture by the name ‘Durty Fits’ and plan to expand it further.

Talking about her achievements, Bonita says that taking her first Hormone shot was a great deal for her. Also, being the second runner-up in Miss Trans Queen 2019 was a big moment in her life. She says that her family was also there and it was one of the proudest moments for her.

Bonita says that she was in Delhi and was getting good work when the Covid pandemic hit. She felt that everything was starting to fall apart. She shifted back to Udaipur and was lost on options. Bonita says that she was trapped in her home and it was really tough for her as she is an extroverted person and cannot live without meeting people and sharing ideas. She also recalls the time when her mother tested positive and they had to shift to a Covid Care Center. It was the toughest time she had ever faced.

Bonita says that Janet Mock, who is a Trans Writer, is her inspiration. Janet writes amazing books, is working on television scripts, and lives a normal life, and hence is an inspiration for her. Bonita is also motivated by Gazal Dhaliwal who is a scriptwriter in the film industry and is paving a new way for Transgender people.

Bonita advises the people who are still closeted to come out to their families and live a free life. She says that initially, it might seem tough but with time it all falls into place.

Bonita says that she has found a new hobby in skateboarding and is learning the same. She also likes watching films and learning the director’s point-of-view from it.
