Bhupendra is the branch manager at HDFC Bank, Udaipur, and has seen notable growth in his career since he first started.

Bhupendra Singh Jhala was born and brought up in Udaipur. He loves the city so much that he has never traveled outside of it, not even for work, even though he was given the chance. He says he did not want to leave Udaipur because it is a beautiful city and also because his family is here. He lives with his parents, his wife, and his 15-year-old son.

Bhupendra started his career after his MBA at ICICI Bank in Udaipur. Then he worked as a clearing officer at Centurion Bank of Punjab. However, Centurion Bank then merged with HDFC, and he has since been with HDFC Bank.

Sharing about his challenges, Bhupendra says he didn’t have to go through many struggles in life since his career was stable. He says he didn’t see much growth in his career, but because he wanted to stay in the city with his family, he was happy with his slow and steady growth.

For inspiration, Bhupendra always looked up to his father, as he used to work in a bank too, and the schedule of his father and the respect he got from others were always big appeals for him to get into the field of banking himself.

Advising youngsters, Bhupendra says they should first complete their education and then get into this field if they are interested. To be in banking, they have to be passionate, and if they are, they will see themselves growing exponentially. Bhupendra says good communication skills are also very important, as one should know how to convince customers. There are no linguistic barriers in his field, and he says even if you speak your native language, the gist of it should be clear to the other person. Bhupendra adds that they can get good growth if they are always open to traveling to different locations.

In his childhood, Bhupendra says it was always fun to spend time in conviviality with friends, and as Udaipur is such a beautiful place, he used to visit a lot of places to have fun.

When asked about his thoughts on leadership, Bhupendra feels he was never a born leader, but after getting into his professional life and learning from his seniors, he now has all the leadership skills and has to manage a staff of people working under him.

In his free time, Bhupendra likes to spend time with his wife and son. His happiness lies in his son’s happiness.
