Bhavya Dixit is a practitioner of the twenty-five hundred-year-old art form called ‘Madhubani Painting.’ She is the creator of a secret symbolic language and an ‘Energy Field’ painter.
Bhavya originally hails from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, but currently she is based out of Montreal, Canada. She started her art journey when she was nineteen years old, pursuing law in her native place. She took an animation course as she always wanted to become a painter and enter the creative field. Initially, her parents were insecure about her getting into the field of art as they wanted her to be financially successful and independent, which they thought wouldn't happen in that field. But eventually they started supporting her dream, and she got admission to an animation course.
Bhavya’s animation course was just over when her mother came across an advertisement for hiring junior compositors in Prime Focus, Mumbai, on a training basis and at a very low initial pay. She grabbed that opportunity and got selected. Slowly, she started growing in the company and also got a raise in salary accordingly. After working for six years in this company, she and her husband decided to shift to Vancouver, looking at the scope in this field. In view of her interest in going abroad, her company transferred her to Vancouver itself, and after a year, the company shifted to Montreal, as did she.
After moving to Montreal, Bhavya realized that it is the biggest ‘design city’ in the world, with wonderful art galleries and different art forms. Her passion for becoming a painter came out again, and she decided to pursue it now as she had strong finances, and hence she started taking workshops about oil paintings and other courses in 2018. Also, she was asked by one of her colleagues to make a huge Madhubani painting, which was the actual beginning of her art career, and it took her two years to complete that painting. Gradually, she started getting painting orders from people around the world, and people appreciated her work a lot. Soon she got an opportunity to volunteer at Canada’s biggest art fair with four hundred other artists, and that was the biggest experience she walked out with.
Bhavya started participating in big art fairs from there; opportunities kept coming her way, and she went ahead with this work by creating her website and completing all the formalities to register her work. In 2021, she got selected for the art fair and started getting more commissions and recognition at art fairs and galleries.
In 2020, Bhavya came to India with her husband, and due to the COVID pandemic, they got stuck here for six months, and because of that, she had to drop her participation in the art fair. She says that this time has made everyone realize the value of our loved ones, friends, and family. Being an artist, she got time to focus on her art work, and that proved to be best for her. She made a lot of paintings during that time and started getting online shows from around the globe, which gave her a wonderful experience.
Bhavya feels proud to share memories of her very first in-person show and to share the stage with the biggest artists in the world, which she considers the biggest achievement of her life.
Bhavya advises everyone not to forget to earn money and stand on your feet before making your dream come true or following your passion because it is important to become financially strong and stable to do what you want to do.
