Bharat started working in the social sector early-on in his life. He has been working in the social sector for the past eighteen years and considers himself fortunate enough to be working for society and hence people.

Bharat hails from Baran. In 2005, he started working in the social sector. Currently he is working with an NGO by the name Disha Sansthan in Baran district of Rajasthan.

Bharat holds a B.A., M.A. in Political Science and MSW. He made it the aim of his life to educate people from the deprived and underprivileged sections of society about their human rights and with that aim in mind, he joined Disha Sansthan. Currently, he is working to provide them with sources to earn a livelihood, medical facilities and also to educate their children along with connecting them as beneficiaries to various government programmes and policies designed especially for them.

Bharat was born in a village in Tonk. Since his school days, he started doing social work. He worked to eradicate polio in his village and organised various athletics meets in his school. His school principal also appreciated him for his work and leadership abilities. Besides, he also worked for kids of tribal families suffering from malnutrition and ran awareness campaigns to educate people about vaccination and malnutrition.

During the Covid pandemic, he created a group to connect migrant workers who came to their villages from cities to MGNREGA to provide them employment.

Bharat has been felicitated by the district authority and the forest department for his contribution in the social sector.

In his eighteen years of working in the social sector, Bharat has visited many places in Rajasthan. He also ran many workshops and programmes to educate people about their human rights. He is also a member of the District Development Committee of Baran and has been working to make the voice of the person at the last mile count in the development and planning of the district. He is also working to spread awareness among people with regard to elections and casting votes.

Talking about challenges in his work, Bharat says that sometimes he finds it hard to collaborate with the authorities. Besides, he also has to face corruption in government departments. But with his sheer zeal to serve the people, he overcomes whatever comes his way.

Bharat learnt it from his mother to serve people. He learnt to be an honest and strong person from his father. His school principal also inspired him. He also takes inspiration from late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

During his school days, Bharat was a disciplined and ideal student. He was very punctual and managed his time well. He was also elected as the Head Boy of his school.

Bharat believes in collective effort rather than a ‘me’ spirit. He worked at the grassroot level. He studied tribal peoples’ culture, lifestyle, languages, food habits etc., and provided suggestions to the government for designing policies and programmes for such people.

Bharat thinks that one learns leadership with time. He says that leadership is about taking people along.

During his free time, he reflects on his work and meditates on whether he has been able to accomplish what he wanted to. He also likes to read books, magazines, and novels and considers books as his best friend.

Bharat’s life mantra is consistency. He says that to achieve anything in life, consistency in what we do is paramount. He tries to be consistent in his work at all times.

Bharat says that the social sector is not an easy path at all. Rarely one out of thousands of people takes to social service.
