Bharat Lalwani has been in the electronics business for the last 15 years. His firm C.M. Marketing owns two Samsung Smart Plazas in Udaipur.
Bharat hails from Udaipur, he was born and brought up there. He spent most of his childhood at his maternal place. After completing his tenth grade, at the age of sixteen, he joined his brother in his business of providing repair services for Philips electronic products. Later, they became distributors of Phillips products and eventually stepped into the retail business of the same.
Talking about COVID, Bharat says that normally, a businessman hardly gets any personal time. But during the pandemic, he got to spend time with his daughter and family. However, he says that there was an economic slump owing to the pandemic. But he is optimistic that things will start getting back on track gradually.
Talking about his role models, Bharat says that there are many people who inspired him. But, Konosuke Matsushita - the founder of Panasonic, inspires him the most.
Bharat thinks that in coming times, the selling of mobile phones and other small electronics will be completely swept off from the offline market and he appeals to the government to take necessary steps to avert or control the same. However, he is optimistic that the business of selling consumer durables offline is an evergreen business and will always find its relevance.
If he could go back in time via a Time Machine, Bharat would want to go back to the 2000s and buy the shares of Eicher Motors.
In his spare time, Bharat likes to be at home and spend time with his family. Besides, he likes to watch documentaries.
To newcomers who want to do business in consumer durables, Bharat, on the basis of current market dynamics, advises them that instead of going for multi-brand stores they should go for exclusive brand stores.
According to Bharat, the definition of success varies from person to person. Success comes and goes but remaining satisfied in life is more important.
