An Assistant Professor of Geography, Bhanwar Vishvendra Raj Singh is well-travelled to many different countries. He considers vernaculars to be the best medium to interact and connect better with his students and locals.

Bhanwar Vishvendra Raj Singh is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at MLSU, Udaipur.

Bhanwar hails from a village named Bambora which is located 48 km from Udaipur city. He studied till his 8th grade in his village and then he did his remaining schooling in Udaipur. Then he did his graduation from Rajasthan University, Jaipur. Thereafter he did his masters and PhD from Delhi School of Economics.

Talking about his childhood, Bhanwar says that he always participated in academics, sports and extracurricular activities with equal vigour and interest. Even today when he visits his school, people there know him.

Talking about struggles in his life, Bhanwar says that despite the lack of guidance and resources at his end he worked hard to get into JNU for his masters. Though he couldn’t get admission to JNU, he got admission to Delhi University. He never felt dejected for not getting into JNU and studied with equal dedication at DU as he would have studied otherwise at JNU.

Bhanwar shares that the Covid pandemic was unprecedented and it shut the whole world down. He says that we talk about globalisation and the pandemic taught us the need for isolation to stay safe. Furthermore, he adds that the pandemic disrupted our lives. But at the same time, he is optimistic that we learnt from the pandemic how to fight such calamities in future.

Bhanwar believes that education is very important in life as it develops an individual into a logical and rational being. He says that education is the biggest weapon to fight every problem in the world. He also adds that education equips one with the highest knowledge of a subject and thus makes him a pathfinder and driver of change.

Bhanwar doesn’t consider any one personality as his role model. He takes inspiration from the life stories of great people. Though, he considers Maharana Pratap, who laid down his life to protect Mewar, as his inspiration and role model.

Though Bhanwar has travelled to different countries, he likes to give examples of local geographical sites during his lectures and conversations to connect better with his students and locals.

Bhanwar’s life mantra is to Keep going and never rest until you have reached your destination. He considers it important to keep pace with changing times to achieve what we want in life.
