Barsha was born in Kolkata but her family moved to Chandigarh when she was ten. She did her schooling from Chandigarh itself. She says that she dreamt of becoming a doctor as she was a studious kid in school. But, after 10th,, she ended up taking Math in her 11th grade. Since then, she struggled to pass and her results kept deteriorating. Hence, she left that school and did her 11th & 12th privately with Arts. Alongside, she started teaching Bollywood Dance at her home.
Barsha explains that coming from a middle-class family, she could not pursue her studies in any expensive profession like Medicine. So, she decided to make her career in Dance because of her talent and passion for it. Although her parents were reluctant about it, her decision was firm. Starting from Kathak, she slowly acquired expertise in many other dance forms over a period of time. She feels happy to say that she found her husband during this beautiful journey of hers.
In the meantime, she also worked in a private school and call center to earn her livelihood. Progressively, from local dance competitions to National TV reality shows and All India Dance Championship, she earned a lot of name and fame in this field. After her marriage, she started a Dance Studio along with her husband.
When asked about her Role Models, Barsha says that she considers her mother as her role model as whatever she is today, it is because of her. Plus, she takes inspiration from her husband as he speaks very well and he is good at maintaining relationships.
Describing her struggles, Barsha says that in the year 2013, her son was diagnosed with cancer. She left everything to get his son treated. It took him three years to recover and those were the most struggling days of her life. Apart from this, due to some rift, she got separated from her husband. That too was a very difficult time for her.
About her Covid experience, Barsha says that she had gone to her husband’s place to spend Holi with his family in order to give another chance to her husband. But soon Covid struck and the lockdown was imposed and hence she overstayed there. Consequently, things changed and she bonded again with her husband. It ended their divorce case and she has been living happily with her husband since then. On the professional front, her business came to a complete standstill and so she couldn’t pay the rent. But as soon as the lockdown was lifted, her business got back on track and continues to grow.
For Barsha, Leadership doesn’t mean being a boss and throwing orders. But it means that everyone has to achieve a team goal together with equal efforts. Further she says that as a leader she tries to identify the quality of every team member and utilize it adequately.
In her spare time, Barsha enjoys doing small household chores, doing crafts, spending time with family and partying with friends.
If Barsha had a Time Machine, she would have brought her father back to life.
Barsha expresses her disappointment in today’s youth as they lack patience and want everything at a fast pace and that too in their own way, which is not good. So she suggests them to first analyze yourself and know your abilities. Then proceed towards your field of interest and work hard to make your career in it.
