An advocate turned baker,  Barnali followed her childhood hobby and passion for baking. She looks forward to providing quality products to her customers through her bakery venture.

Barnali Chakrabarty is a home baker based in Guwahati, Assam. She entered the baking industry professionally in 2020 when she started her ‘Sweet Retreat.’

Recalling her childhood, Barnali shares that she got into the bakery industry inspired by her mother, who used to bake cakes and cookies. Since her father had a transferable job, Barnali lived in many places across Assam. As a child, Barnali dreamed of becoming an advocate and completed her relevant education in Guwahati.

Barnali studied law at Guwahati University. She also pursued courses in Personnel Management and Computers. Barnali shares that after getting married, since her husband was in a private job with frequent travel, she couldn’t carry on with her profession. This gave her an opportunity to pursue her passion for baking. Barnali has taken a baking class in the past and often participates in food exhibitions.

When asked about her role models, Barnali says she draws inspiration from her mother, through whom her interest in baking took birth. She is also thankful to her husband, who has been supportive of her interests. Barnali also considers her college and school teachers to be her role models.

When under stress, Barnali practises meditation and keeps herself away from negativity. Her life mantra is to remain optimistic in all circumstances and she believes that one is responsible for their own happiness.
