Hailing from a modest background, Banwari had never thought of becoming an artist. But coming into contact with the field of art changed his mind. Today, he is a Miniature and Pichwai artist and advises the youth to come into this traditional art field as well.

Banwari Lal Jangid is a Miniature and Pichwai painting artist from Jaipur. He has thirty-five years of experience in the field.

Talking about his childhood, Banwari says that he hails from Lalsot village near Jaipur. He adds that he comes from a normal family and had never thought of working in the field of painting. After his schooling, he shifted to Jaipur for higher studies. He was a commerce student, and along with his graduation in the commerce field, he enrolled for a diploma in the arts as well. However, when his examinations for graduation and diploma clashed, he chose arts and ditched the commerce field.

Banwari says that when he came to Jaipur, he used to live on rent, and his landlord also had an art studio where he used to observe and learn art. He developed an interest in working in the field of painting as a result of this.

Talking about his struggles, Banwari says that he had to struggle a lot in the initial days when he used to work and learn from different sources. After attending college, he used to sketch for two hours in the Rambagh Palace, Jaipur. After that, he used to work at a studio for four hundred rupees a month, which helped him take care of his monthly expenses. Banwari says that initially, the struggle was all about meeting new people, learning new things, and managing the expenses.

Talking about his achievements, Banwari says that the biggest painting in Jal Mahal has been done by him. He has also painted for Gautam Adani, completed many works for Vasundhara Raje, and many guests of the Rajasthan Government were given paintings created by him. He was also felicitated by the Rajasthan government on Independence Day in 2017. Adding to the list, Banwari says that he was also a part of the Mango Tree art camp organized by Anjana Somany.

Sharing about his role models, Banwari says that he is inspired by the renowned artist, Ved Pal ‘Bannu’.

Banwari feels that we should always give our best and deliver unique work. He stays away from copying someone else’s work and tries to keep his work original.

Advising the aspirants to the field, Banwari says that it is a good field of work that can be done while sitting at home, and success in the field depends on how much effort you put in.

When asked about ways to reduce stress in life, Banwari says that he talks to his family, does yoga, and travels to get his mind free and running.

Talking about his life mantra, Banwari says that we should work as much as possible, and even if we are not appreciated personally, our work should be appreciated and celebrated.

In his free time, Banwari likes cycling, going on small outings, watching something of interest on his mobile phone, and spending time with his family.
