Baniram works in the Zonal Railway Training Institute and feels that government jobs provide more security in life and there is ample availability of them.

Baniram Meena is working as an Instructor in Zonal Railway Training Institute (NWR), Udaipur, Rajasthan.

He comes from a small village and has done his studies in the Hindi medium. He says that his village had no roads and lights and still he studied well and got a job in the Railways in 1994. In 2005, he was posted as a Commercial Instructor in Ratlam Division. In 2017, he shifted to Udaipur and has been working here since then. In 2015, he was diagnosed with Arthritis but still kept working.

He completed his graduation in 1998. Baniram says that he had lost his father in 1978 and his mother in 1988. He was left completely alone after that. Even farming was not working for him. However, he kept his faith in the Almighty and never let negativity take over him. He says that the guiding force in his life is a Shloka given by Tulsidas: होइहि सोइ जो राम रचि राखा, को करि तर्क बढ़ावै साखा

Baniram says that he never asks anything from God. The only thing he has earned in life is respect and honor. He says that in his village everyone respects him and looks up to him. He has worked at several places like Ratlam, Nagda, Indore and Udaipur, and everywhere he has worked with full honesty.

He says that people think that a government job cannot be secured without money. He feels that this mentality is skewed and ill-placed. Hardworking students are still getting government jobs. He feels that education is very costly in today’s time and jobs are not paying comparable to what one has to invest in education.

He laments that today everyone is running after Engineering and everyone wants a job in a foreign land. Baniram says that the youth should work hard in their own country as ample opportunities are available here as well.

In Covid time, there were 700 students in their training institute. They managed to send 300 back home and the rest were there and taken care of. During the Covid times, he wrote two books related to training.

He shares that when he was posted in Ratlam he used to finish the pending work of others as well. Seeing this, others also got inspired and started completing their work on time. He says that we should be honest about the job that pays us and should respect it.

The message that he wants to give to all is:हतो वा प्राप्स्यसि स्वर्गं जित्वा वा भोक्ष्यसे महीम्‌ ।तस्मादुत्तिष्ठ कौन्तेय युद्धाय कृतनिश्चयः ॥

This means If you fight, you will either be slain on the battlefield and go to the celestial abodes, or you will gain victory and enjoy the kingdom on earth. Therefore, arise with determination, O son of Kunti, and be prepared to fight.
