Baldev Singh is a passionate and hardworking professional who worked proactively and persistently in the aviation sector. His journey involves numerous certifications, awards, medals, cash prizes, and many unforgettable experiences.

Baldev Singh Dhillon was born in Shillong, Meghalaya. He moved to Kolkata later and completed his P.G. in Commerce and Law. In December 1991, he got the opportunity to join Indian Aviation in the Security department. He says, due to the Sikh riots after Indira Gandhi’s assassination, it was tough for a Sikh to get into government services. But seeing his family history and background, he was given the golden opportunity without much hassle. He worked hard with dedication and honesty and proved his loyalty as an Indian citizen. Finally, he retired as a Senior Security Manager from Air India. His last posting was at the Udaipur Airport.

Baldev’s work was ranked at the topmost level and liked by all his seniors, mentors, and directors. His area was the anti-sabotage part of the operations including catering, passenger departure, cargo, checking aircraft, handling diplomatic mails, priority parcels, etc. He took every day as a challenge to learn from and gain expertise. Seeing his work credentials and excellence, the company supported and sponsored his MBA in HR . While pursuing MBA, his company also sent him for training at the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. He did wonders there and earned various certifications, including cargo supervision.

According to him, being a qualified and certified officer is highly regarded in the aviation industry. He advises all the aspirants of aviation to go through these courses positively. Not only does the training at the BCAS guide you on what to do, but it also teaches you how to carry out operations in practical circumstances. He received company and state administration awards for his excellent services. He took it as a pleasure to work in aviation. He liked meeting, assisting, guiding, and solving the issues of passengers at the airport. He loved this experience of interaction with people from all walks of life. He also loved the time-bounded and guidelines-driven work culture.

After retiring from aviation, for some time, Baldev joined a company that looked after the events, advertisements, and media work at the airport as a manager. His duty was to handle high-profile clients who visited Udaipur for lavish destination weddings. Lastly, he joined the K. S. Automobiles in Udaipur as a Pre-Delivery Inspection Manager. Contrary to aviation, it took him some time to understand and get used to the unorganised work culture outside the world of aviation. He found that people didn’t use the right tools and procedures to finish the given task. He felt restricted from exercising his duties. However, gradually, he feels people are learning and are happy to work with him.

Covid was a happy-go-lucky time for him. He spent quality time with his family and got a lot of time on his hands to try cooking, gardening, watching youtube videos, and enjoying indoors. His community participated in a sharing and caring system of essential shopping to minimise exposure to the virus. He supported and felt motivated by the Prime Minister’s ideas to promote unity during covid.

Baldev says the aviation industry is a dream of many and offers a wide range of job opportunities and positions such as ground staff, air hostesses, aeronautical engineers, and pilots. A graduate in any field can join aviation. Baldev Singh has spent a large part of his life in aviation and acquired the right skills to guide and mentor aspiring candidates. He advises the candidates to explore their field of interest and join a reputed training institute with genuine placement links.

Baldev Singh feels that he has achieved everything he desired with the support of his family, the companies he worked for, and his mentors. Being a quick learner it was easy for Baldev to adjust to every team and work profile. He talks about his mother when asked about his inspiration. Moreover, his DGM at the Aviation Training also inspired him a lot.

Lastly, he gives the message to be always updated and prepared for all life’s challenges, worrying less about the problems and being honest in your work.

He likes to meditate in his free time as it gives him inspiration, courage, power, inner peace, and solutions to his worries.
