A yoga instructor, Babita came into the field after a life-changing incident and made yoga her life. She focuses on creating awareness about the same in women to help them stay fit and healthy.

Babita Gupta is a yoga instructor and the founder of Babita Yoga Centre in Agra. She has been teaching yoga for the past seven years. She caters only to women and wants to create awareness about yoga among women.

Talking about her journey, Babita says that she had never thought of joining the wellness field. She has an M.A. in Economics and an M.Ed. and used to teach in schools and colleges. However, the turning point came when she met with an accident and broke her femur. She had to undergo four to five surgeries and was bedridden for two years. She developed a number of diseases like obesity, a frozen shoulder, migraines, and back pain. It was then that her friend suggested she try yoga.

Babita says that she gradually grew interested in it and started learning more about it. She did a one and a half-year diploma course in yoga but even after that, had no intention of opening a yoga center. However, seeing her knowledge, her friends insisted on using the free space at her home, and she started her yoga classes. Babita says that from day one she started getting a good response.

Sharing about her childhood, Babita says that she was a shy student who was good in academics. She liked spending time with her family and siblings and living in her small world. Her father, being in a government job, got transferred a lot, and as a result, she took arts as a subject even when she wanted to go into science. After that, she did an M.A. and M.Ed. and started working as a teacher, which she left after marriage.

Babita says that she started her classes in 2016 and has been teaching yoga since. Her main objective is not to earn money but to cure women through yoga. Babita says that through yoga, she has also controlled her fibroids and cured her frozen shoulder. She still feels that there is a lack of awareness among women, and they come to her when the disease reaches the highest level.

Talking about her achievements, Babita says that she has received many prizes from social organizations and has been interviewed by many TV channels as a yoga teacher who, even after being differently abled, is teaching yoga and creating awareness. She says that there was a time when she used to think that she would not be able to move, but she does tough asanas now.

Speaking about her role models, Babita says that anyone around us can be our role model in life. There is a seventy five year-old person who she notices every day walking; he inspires her a lot. She says that we just need to look around to find our inspiration.

Babita says that her life mantra is to always be active and stay fit. She says that we should not get lethargic in life and always enjoy the present moment.

Talking about methods to relieve stress, Babita says that pranayama is the best practice. She also says that we can also do meditation to beat stress. Babita says that she likes doing deep breathing exercises in a garden and also says that yoga helps in the release of happy hormones, which help in easing stress.

Babita advises everyone to incorporate yoga and meditation into their lives and try learning the same from a good guru.
