Azaz is a Sitarist hailing from the renowned Senia Gharana. He started training early and feels that music is meditation and a way to connect to the almighty.

Azaz Khan is a Sitarist from the Senia Gharana and has been performing in this field for the past twelve years.

Talking about his lineage, Azaz says that his forefathers had been in this field. His grandfather, Ustad Moinuddin Khan had roots in Rajasthan and later worked in All India Radio, Indore for almost forty years. His father, Ustad Ashraf Khan also worked for almost fifty years and was associated with Kadamb Centre for Dance and performed with legends like Birju Maharaj. His elder brother is also a renowned Sarangi player.

Talking about his childhood, Azaz says that it had the influence of three places: Rajasthan, Indore, and Ahmedabad. Azaz was born in Indore and raised in Ahmedabad. His training in music started at a very young age. When he was five, his training in vocal, Tabla, and Sitar playing began. He also had an inclination towards education and sports like cricket.

After completing his schooling at Ankur School, he did his graduation and also a course in Aviation from Frankfinn Institute. He also worked as Manager and General Manager in the Hospitality sector but also stayed connected to his musical roots.

Azaz feels that music is a way of worship and a way of connecting with the almighty.

Azaz advises youngsters to respect their parents if they want to succeed in this field and also to be ready to learn for a lifetime.

When asked about his mistakes in life, Azaz says that no person is perfect and mistakes are bound to happen. He shares that he has also gone through times when he did commit mistakes while performing but has learned a lot from them.

Sharing his accomplishments, Azaz says that the biggest achievement for an artist is to get recognized by his Ustad.

When asked about his role models, Azaz says that his grandfather, Ustad Moinuddin Khan, and his father Ustad Ashraf Khan are his role models. Azaz says that he has seen their journey and their struggles in life. He also mentions the contribution of Ustad Shahid Parvez and Shujaat Khan who are his idols in life.

Azaz shares that to attain peace of mind he resorts to listening to good music which is like meditation for him.

In his free time, Azaz likes listening to Indian Classical and light music. He also likes playing cricket and is fond of eating new delicacies.
