Professor Awadh Kishor is teaching in the Department of Pharmaceuticals at the Pacific College of Pharmacy. He teaches and guides various research projects on Pharmaceutics, Physical Pharmaceutics, and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.
Previously, he was working at Syngene International Limited and was recognised with several awards there including the prestigious Biocon Grant-in-Aid Award. Prof. Awadh has also published various articles and recently filed for a patent under his name.
Prof. Awadh Kishor was born and brought up in Jawahar Sagar, situated in Rajasthan. He had always had a keen interest in the medical field since his formative years. Hence, he decided to pursue a career in the field of Pharmacy. He did his schooling in Kota and then completed his graduation in Udaipur. Later, he completed his M. Pharm degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from JSS College of Pharmacy in Ooty, Tamil Nadu.
Talking about his work experience, Prof. Kishor says he joined Syngene International Limited in Bangalore. There, he worked as a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Analytical R & D. After that, he joined the profession of teaching and now has 7+ years of experience in this field.
Sharing about his inspirations, Prof. Awadh says that he sees Dr. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw as a role model. Dr. Shaw’s contributions to society and the healthcare field have served as a source of inspiration to him. Prof. Kishor's favourite quote is, “Sometimes you have to take two steps back to make a bigger leap ahead,” which always motivates him.
Advising his students, Prof. Awadh shares the message that the youth must pursue a career in the field of pharmacy. They can study B. Pharma and do post-graduation in this field by pursuing an M. Pharm degree, specialising in a particular area of expertise.
He adds that after completing B.Pharm, a student can opt for Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Pharmacovigilance, and many allied departments in the said field and build a career in the healthcare sector. Talking about the COVID era, he shares that even before the pandemic, India was a leading country in manufacturing vaccines. He proudly shares that out of every 10 vaccines given to a child across the world, every 6 to 7 vaccines are manufactured in India itself. Thus, students must explore the immense career opportunities in the field of the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries.
