Aviral Dixit is a Freelance Architect from Jaipur, Rajasthan. He has eleven years of experience in this field. He has done his schooling from St. Xavier’s School, Jaipur, and his Architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.
Aviral shares that both his parents are doctors. His father was working as a CMO (Chief Medical Officer) in Dausa, Rajasthan, and is now retired. His mother is working as a professor in SMS Medical College, Jaipur.
Aviral feels that architecture is everywhere around us. Anything which is outside the human body has a design and form to it. He says designs are made on the basis of the utility and requirements of the client. He also feels that anyone who is designing something is an Architect.
Talking about his work, Aviral says that he does both Residential and Commercial projects. In Residential projects, he has to take care of the comfort and psychology of the occupant. Commercial projects are based more on economic considerations and are designed to save money. Aviral says such economic considerations often affect the sustainability of designs and are not preferred by him. Aviral says that Ergonomics, which is the application of psychological and physiological principles to Engineering and Design, is ignored in the Health Sector and should be applied for better care of the patients.
Aviral believes that the profession you are in,brings changes in you as a person. A Lawyer will start reading more in order to give better arguments in court. Similarly, an Architect starts to observe more in order to make better designs. A good Architect has to identify the needs of the client and design accordingly. He has to turn into a good strategist as well.
He thinks that working with a balanced and calm mind gives better results, otherwise a hasty mind affects the quality of your work and no one will be happy with this kind of work.
Aviral thinks neither Education nor Experience, but Exposure is the most important. He says a person getting to see diverse things in life and experiencing the same will have a better vision. He says that knowledge of the field one is working in is also very important.
Talking about Ancient Architecture, Aviral says that it was based on landforms and the availability of rivers and lakes. Designs were made keeping in mind all these factors. However, now-a-days, only economic factors are kept in mind which is not an appropriate consideration in his opinion. He further adds that the concept of Green Buildings is rooted in the same ancient form of designing which is mainstreaming once again.
Aviral feels that to be a good Architect, one should be a good observer. Good research is also needed to create client-specific designs and to think of innovative ideas.
Aviral considers his father as his role model. He says that his father had many opportunities in life to be financially successful but he dedicated everything to Social Service and helping people. His father says that life is all about people and not money. Real income is the trust of people that we earn in our lifetime.
Aviral’s motto in life is to work hard and party harder.
