Avinash Gupta is a Theater Artist and an Actor. He has been associated with Hindi drama for the last twenty years. He also works in the movies and recently he has also acted in a few web series. Besides, he has worked with independent National Award-winning filmmakers like Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Aparna Singh, Kaushik Ganguly, Ashish Avikunthak, and many more.
Avinash belongs to Kolkata. He did his schooling from there itself. Then he enrolled for B.Com but without completing it, he went on to pursue theater. He says that when he entered the theater industry, he did not understand a thing for a year because he did not get proper guidance. But gradually, he started learning it and as his interest grew, he continued to progress. Later, he completed his graduation in Drama from Ravindra Bharathi School, Hyderabad.
Recalling his childhood, Avinash says that he was a shy and introverted child. He was very shy talking and speaking to people. He was greatly inspired by Indian Cinema but never thought of becoming a performer himself in the future.
Describing his struggles, Avinash says that his family was against him making his career in the field of theater as they wanted him to settle down in life with a good job. But he saw his career in the theater industry itself and in this rift, the biggest challenge for him was to convince his parents to let him follow his passion. Gradually, he made his way from plays to movies of prominent filmmakers.
Talking about his achievements, Avinash says that despite facing various difficulties, he continued to be associated with drama for twenty years and made a successful career in it, which he considers to be his biggest accomplishment.
Regarding his mistakes, Avinash says that his biggest mistake was that he graduated in Drama very late, due to a lack of good guidance in his early career. As, if he had done that earlier, he would have been eligible for the National School of Drama.
When asked about his role models, Avinash says that he considers his mentor, Alok Chakraborty as his role model for grooming him in this industry and making him reach this point today. He also draws inspiration from an actor, Sandip Ghosh for helping him in his initial days to establish his foothold in the field of acting. Besides, his brother, his friends, and his colleague, Praveen Sharma are his biggest supporters.
Avinash likes to travel and stay close to music in his spare time. He also likes to meditate occasionally.
