Ashok Kumar Sharma has recently retired from the post of Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Rajakhera, Dholpur.
Ashok is satisfied with his tenure which he thinks has been very good. He says during his tenure, he organised several programs for the development of the school, due to which his work was immensely admired and appreciated. He took retirement only after finishing all the work he had started.
Ashok belongs to Ayela village in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh. He did his primary education from the village itself. He completed the rest of his schooling from Motilal Inter College, Saiyan which was six kms away from his village. Due to lack of resources, he used to go to school on foot. He also did M.A and B.Ed.
Ashok feels blissful about his childhood. He shares that along with studies, he used to work on the farm, take animals for grazing and help in other household chores. Recalling those times, he says that money was of great value in those days unlike today. In dismay, he says, in those days, there was love, affection and belongingness among the people which has become rare to see in today’s era. He says that he had a pleasant and joyous childhood.
About struggles, Ashok says that too many troubles came in his life, but he solved them all with great patience. He continued to fight with constant struggle and never gave up on anything. He kept moving forward with the spirit of self-development along with the development of his family. He says that he started his career as a Third-Grade Government Teacher and got promoted from time to time. He continued to study along with giving his services and after passing with first division, he got selected as a Lecturer in RPSC and for twenty years, he worked as a Lecturer. Accepting his challenges, he went ahead and got promoted to the post of Principal. Recently, he has retired after serving as Principal for six years. Meanwhile, he was also transferred many times and during that time too he had to take care of his family and children’s education too. But he handled everything very smartly and today his children are doing government jobs.
Ashok says that in the initial days of Covid, people were not so scared because then there were not so many deaths. He also thought that gradually this disease will end soon. But the second wave was very fierce and it frightened the people. During that time, he followed all the protocols and took preventive measures because Covid has killed many people. He also made his school teachers aware about this deadly disease and encouraged them to follow all the guidelines and protocols.
Ashok believes that education plays an important role in the development of an individual because education is the only way to rid a person of bad notions. He thinks that it is through education that a person moves on the path of development and therefore a person should get more and more education and never stop learning. From his experience, he says that if you are determined to do something, then no one can stop you from doing that thing and eventually you will achieve success.
If he ever gets a chance to go back in time, Ashok would like to bring back the twenty-year old time where people used to live happily with each other and they didn’t envy each other in the race to earn.
In his free time, Ashok enjoys walking, exercising and taking rest.
