It is important to understand the law and implement it to the benefit of society.
Ashok Kumar Mogra has been an advocate at Udaipur District Court for 40 years now, handling civil, criminal, and revenue cases.
He mentions that surviving in this profession requires a great deal of struggle, and advocates often do not receive the desired fees despite the hard work and experience they invest. He shares that a lawyer can earn only enough to survive with no safety or security, and it is difficult for people who have family responsibilities to manage with no permanent source of income. However, with zeal and dedication, it is possible to be successful in this profession, but hardly a few of them reach heights.
Discussing COVID, Ashok shares that he stopped going to court and was confined to his home, but he never lost his zeal to practice advocacy. He feels that if one follows all safety protocols, they can escape this virus.
For aspiring lawyers and advocates, Ashok suggests that they should not come into this profession with the intention of having monetary benefits; their objective should be to understand the law and implement it to be of benefit to society.
Ashok considers one of his colleagues who introduced him to the field of law as his role model and admires his secret to success. He also drew inspiration from his uncle, who is no longer with him.
Ashok’s success mantra is to work hard with honesty and dedication to excel in the law profession and leave the rest to God.
