Ashok Mathur is a showroom manager for Maruti Suzuki. He has been working in the four-wheeler sector for the last six years.
Ashok completed his school education in Kota. After school, he did an M.Com. and a Diploma in Automobile Management. He started his career by dealing in two-wheelers and then expanded to three-wheelers and, lastly, four-wheelers. Mathur has over 15 years of work experience in automobiles. He is currently working as a showroom manager for Maruti Suzuki, which he joined six years ago.
Ashok says that even during COVID-19, four-wheeler sales were pretty good and the automobile sector was still booming. As people became reluctant to use public transport during the pandemic, car sales continued to rise, as did the automobile industry. Post-covid, they had to work with double dedication, but he thinks Maruti has a good future as people have trust in its cars and it has the highest market share. During the lockdown, as he was stuck at home, he learned many new things online.
Ashok advises budding aspirants wishing to join the automobile sector to focus on management skills, imbibe dedication, learn time management, and follow the path of honesty and punctuality to succeed in this sector.
According to Ashok, experience plays a very big role in running any business. But education gives us the knowledge and ethics to pursue our goals in life. He thinks a good education pays at every step of life.
Ashok feels that role models have a very big impact on our lives. His elder brother, who is working in the banking industry, has inspired him a lot. Inspired by his work and determination, Ashok says that “our own work and not anyone else’s must define our social standing”. Our identity should be forged with our own hands.
Ashok also feels that planning is very important to go about one’s daily life, beginning from morning to evening. Everything should be systematically planned ahead of time. He also thinks that market knowledge and keeping yourself updated are the keys to creativity in marketing. In the automobile business, you must always be alert, says Ashok.
In his free time, Ashok likes to learn more about automobiles in magazines and analyze the market. He also likes to sing occasionally.
