Never give up on your dreams, no matter how hard it gets.
Never give up on your dreams, no matter how hard it gets.
Ashok Kapoor is a professional Choreographer. Currently he is learning acting from Lok Kala Mandal, Udaipur. He has always dreamt of becoming an actor and wants to make his career in acting from Mumbai.
Ashok was born in Varda village but in 1994, his family moved to Udaipur and have been residing here since then. He started his studies from Anganwadi, then went to a local government school because of the family's bad financial condition. Consequently, he dropped out of school in 2004.
Talking about his struggle, Ashok thinks that choosing a field and working hard to master it is an enjoyment rather than a struggle. He feels that problems are a part of everyone’s life and for him it came when he was working as a labour contractor. His father used to abuse him daily. But he started his dance journey with the money he earned from his contracting job. He feels content with what he is doing today.
Ashok’s teacher is his biggest supporter. He holds his back and does not let him fall. He considers his father to be his role model because after his grandmother’s demise, his father took charge of the entire family and never gave up.
As a child, he relishes the time when he used to work at Shadi Point and walked to his home after office. Because of his dancing passion he used to join random wedding ceremonies on his way home, would eat food and then go home.
Ashok says that Corona time has been bad for everyone but not for him. He spent his time doing productive things like grooming his personality and also learnt to play guitar. But his brothers suffered problems as they drove rickshaws and their business got hampered. Ashok was into the event line and he was prepared for such bad times so he feels his Covid period was well spent.
During Ashok’s dance journey in Mumbai, he was doing well and even met many big celebrities. Meeting them, he thought of diving into an acting career as well and went for an audition. He could not make it and that was his turning point. He had introspected about himself and came back to Udaipur with a vision to excel in this field.
Ashok advises the newcomers to choose your field wisely, do good research about your field, who is the best in it and go through his life journey and get yourself ready with every pros and cons to enter into a highly competitive environment.
If Ashok would have the time machine, he would have started his journey way back in 2010 and today he would have been a very successful person and maybe people would have known him.
About leadership, Ashok thinks that time and situations have taught him everything. He remembers a saying of a Bollywood choreographer who has now disappeared from the industry that we should always be updated and learn with time.
Ashok advises the young generation to give your best in whatever you are doing to become successful.
