Ashish Vijayvargiya is the MD of Sky Angel In-Flight Catering Services Ltd. He started this company in 2019. His company operates in many cities in India. It has tied up with a few big hotels and provides catering services to them.
Ashish completed his schooling in Udaipur. After that, he enrolled in B.Com at B.N. College, Udaipur. One of his friends who came back to Udaipur after completing his graduation there proposed to Ashish, why did he not come to Bangalore and make a career there? He cited that Bangalore is a great city and gives a lot of opportunities to grow. Hearing him left Ashish amazed. He discussed with his parents that he wanted to go to Bangalore, but he could not convince them. Later when he did not perform well in his B.Com exams his parents let him go to Bangalore and pursue whatever he wanted to.
Hence, Ashish landed in Bangalore and he and his friend started their first jobs with the same company on the same day. Later they switched to other companies at other places. Ashish went abroad and worked there. He again came back to India and worked with the Oberoi Group. In 2019 he started his company by the name of Sky Angel In-Flight Catering Services Ltd. He has tied up with many international clients and aims to expand his business with local clients too.
Talking about struggles and sacrifices in his life, Ashish says that in the airline industry there are no defined working hours. Many times you have to work beyond normal working hours. Initially, his family would get disturbed as he would be called during odd hours of the day. He had to miss out on family time. But later, when his family understood the nature of his work they all started supporting him.
To anyone who wants to start a catering business in the airline industry, Ashish advises that working in this industry requires you to be on your toes all the time. So being patient will help you maintain steady progress in this industry. Besides, being innovative and creative with your food really helps you to retain your clients and garner many more.
Ashish is of the opinion that education is important. But in this industry experience matters more. With experience, you learn more and it helps you go up the ladder.
Reflecting on his childhood, Ashish says that he along with his siblings would pluck pomegranates from a tree in the neighbor’s yard. In the evening the neighbor would complain to their parents and they would pretend the monkey did the act, not they.
If he could go back in time and choose a different career option, Ashish would still want to do the same business as he loves doing what he is doing now.
Ashish considers his uncle his role model. He says that his uncle went abroad and started his business single-handedly. And now his siblings are also working with his uncle.
Apart from his work, Ashish likes to spend time with his family and go on drives. He also likes to spend time with his friends when his wife and kids are not home.
