Ashish Kumar is from Chandigarh. He is running his Dance and Fitness Academy in Panchkula by the name “The Fitness Chakra”.
Ashish says that he has been in this field since the year 2000 and is a certified Fitness Trainer. He started Dance as a hobby in his school days and never thought of pursuing it as a career.
Ashish says that his parents were not in support of this field and always insisted he choose a sustainable career in academics. This also led to years of friction between him and his father.
Ashish did his schooling at a Government Senior Secondary Model School in Chandigarh. After his Secondary Examinations, he had to opt for the Travel and Tourism course but developed no interest in it. So, he shifted to Hotel Management. However, he got supplementary in his Senior Secondary examinations and hence could not get a college in the same field. Then he did his graduation in Arts from Punjab University and continued his Dance practice side-by-side.
Ashish started learning and teaching in different Dance Academies and gained experience. He also did a certification in Fitness and started teaching Zumba and other fitness dances. He switched between several studios before starting his own venture in Panchkula in 2021.
Ashish says that the Covid Lockdown was a tough phase. They started teaching online but it was not getting a good response initially. His finances were also crunching as he took nothing from his family. The gym he was working at did not call him back when the Lockdown was lifted due to restricted entry rules. It was after the lockdown was lifted that he started searching for a place and started his Studio.
Ashish says that in the first two months around 100 students enrolled and now they are running smoothly. They are also doing Wedding Choreography now.
Ashish says that since he worked as an assistant under many people, he knows what problems and difficulties people face and hence treats his team like a family. For him, it is always about his team first. He says that during the pandemic as well he cut down on his expenses to support his team members properly.
Talking about achievements, Ashish says that getting good reviews from his clients is what his achievements are. He feels proud that he had not to do any advertisements and only word of mouth publicity helped him get new students.
Ashish says that his teachers, Amit, Dipesh, Suraj, Aman, Tushar, and many more have been a support and guide for him. They have helped Ashish in every difficult situation and are his inspiration.
If given a Time Machine, Ashish would not like to change anything in his past but would like to go back in time and live his school days again.
In his free time, he likes to make clips and reels for YouTube and work on enhancing his skills.
