Asha Talesara has been doing multiple things for upliftment of poor and needy women through the social organizations of which she is a member.

Asha Talesara is the wife of C.P.Talesara a renowned industrialist of Udaipur. She was born and brought up in Udaipur. Her father was a professor of Physics and was always keen on good education for all his children. Asha’s schooling was from St. Mary’s School, graduation from Meera Girls College and M.Sc. in Chemistry from MB Science College. She has two brothers, one is a doctor and the other is a CA.

Asha remembers that she had a simple fun-filled childhood. She belonged to a joint family and she and her cousins had a great time playing and studying together.

After her marriage in 1976, she and her husband lived in Mumbai for one year. Her husband worked hard, he had an eight to six job. And besides that, in the early morning and in the evening after coming home, he worked for their family company Pyrotech, designing electronics products. On Fridays, when he had a holiday, he went to the market to make purchases for Pyrotech. Thus, they had very little time together but Asha supported him fully. When they moved back to Udaipur, then also her husband was busy in his business and as her in-laws were ill, she had to spend a lot of time looking after them. She had to manage the household, bring groceries etc for the home and do all the work. Even then she found time to tutor her maid.. She says when her children grew up she encouraged them to go and teach illiterate adults in the evening.

Asha thinks that girls must be educated. Even if they are not going for a job, being educated develops their personality and they are prepared to meet any unfortunate eventuality in life. Girls should be able to be self-dependent if ever the need arises. She is happy that her daughter is an engineer and in a job in a good company.

Asha has been an active member of the Rotary Inner Wheel Club. She has been Secretary and President of the club. Through the club, she and her friends do a lot of social work. They raise funds among themselves and donate benches, mats, uniforms, shoes, computers and other things to government schools. They also organise workshops for rural women where they make them aware of the various government schemes available for them. They train them to make envelopes, carry bags and food items in their homes thus supporting their household income.

Asha says that there are four partners in her husband’s company and wives of all four of them are homemakers. But, they have a strong bonding among themselves and they all live like a close family. There isn’t any friction or difference between them. Their children are also close to each other. Thay go on outings together and have a good time.

Her advice for youngsters creating new startups is that in the beginning they should only concentrate on working hard and not think about success or failure.

Her message for life is always to be part of the solution and not the problem. Support the truth, live together and keep away from negativity.
