Arun Baghel is a Graphic Designer and Tattoo Artist. He owns a design and tattoo art studio in Jabalpur.
Arun is a native of Jabalpur. Arun graduated from NIFT in New Delhi with a degree in graphic design, design, and visual communication.
Arun says he was born in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, near Jabalpur. As per Arun, his father was an army officer who frequently traveled around the country due to his assignments. Arun's education took him from Jabalpur through Srinagar, Chennai, Meerut, and finally to Delhi.
As the son of an army officer, Arun claims that he had a childhood dream of joining the Indian Army. He says he failed the NDA exam, but he tried his hand at law by enrolling in Chandigarh's Army School of Law. Within two years, he decided law was not his thing, so he dropped out of the program. He never gave up and went to his second love, art, enrolling at NIFT in New Delhi for a degree program in graphic design.
Arun talks about the difficulties he faced when he decided to change his career from law to art. According to him, there is a lot of pressure to excel as the child of an army officer.
He poured all his efforts into studying for the NIFT admission exam when he decided to pursue art instead of law as a career. When he made it to position 20 on the list, he says it was a time of pride for his father and other family members.
Arun says that in addition to graphic design, he studied tattoo art and became a professional tattoo artist. After finishing his course, he worked for a number of art studios in Delhi before deciding to establish his own in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
Arun recalls his early days when he was trying to establish himself as a tattoo artist in his city. He used to set up a tent close to the holy river Narmada River, where many tourists and locals visit.
When asked about his future plans, Arun states that he wants to sell works of art to regular people at reasonable prices. According to him, Art fans aren't just rich, there are many regular people, who value art greatly but lack the funds to use it to spruce up their homes.
Arun advises new aspiring Tattoo artists to be inquisitive and must listen carefully to their customers’ ideas to accurately turn those thoughts into art pieces that will match their wants and desires. He says Tattoo Art is a growing field, there has been substantial growth in the tattooing industry in the last decade or so. He suggests young Tattoo artists get comfortable in executing their ideas and have the required technical prowess to utilize the tools to translate a given image into an alluring tattoo.
