Arpita Jain is the Assistant Manager of HR at Arcgate and hails from Udaipur.
Recalling her childhood, Arpita says that as her mother was a working woman, most of her childhood was spent at her maternal grandmother’s house, receiving nurturing and guidance from her.
Arpita shares that she started her career with an automobile company, Maruti Suzuki, after completing her MBA. She got placed right after her completion, so she didn’t have to look much for a job elsewhere. After her stint with the automobile company, she worked in the hotel industry, the medical industry, and the newspaper industry.
Talking about her challenges, Arpita says that when she came to India after working overseas with her husband, it was not easy for her to get a job again. However, she started working again. After giving birth, she again faced a dilemma, but her mother convinced her to continue working and supported her completely in taking care of the child.
When asked about her role models, Arpita says that her parents have always been an inspiration to her. She credits them for her success.
To all those who want to pursue HR, Arpita advises them to be sure whether they want to go into the industrial sector or the service sector because both give you different values. She adds that while the industry sector involves more legal work, the service sector involves more interaction with people. “One should know their core competency before moving forward”, says Arpita.
If given a chance to go back in time via a time machine, Arpita says that she would still want to be in HR. She once wanted to become a dermatologist and even cleared the PMT examination, but then she was not offered the course she wanted, so she moved into the HR segment.
When free, Arpita likes to pursue artistic and creative tasks like painting, sketching, cooking, and reading books.
