Arpita Ghosh is a Counselor and Life Coach. Currently she is a Senior Counselor at the Christ University in Lavasa, Maharashtra. She is also a TEDx Speaker, Co-Author and Media Professional.
Arpita hails from Mumbai. Talking about her childhood, Arpita says that she was the youngest and the most pampered one in the house. She feels nostalgic about her childhood and misses those days. She says that she had a flair for writing and creativity from a young age.
Arpita says that being from a Chemist family, she had no choice but to opt for Science as her career option. So she did B.Sc and PG in Physical Chemistry. But when she worked in this industry, she realized that this field is not for her. Keeping her interest in mind, she ventured into the field of Sales and Marketing. Hence, she took a job at Eureka Forbes. Switching many jobs from there, she went ahead and progressed in her career. After working for years in this field, she felt that it was not the right place for her and she quit her job.
Arpita shares that she could not sit idle at home for long and so she joined ‘Ask Me Services.’ That platform gave her voice an identity. She did a certification course in Voice Modulation. Soon she started working as an English Announcer at All India Radio, Mumbai. Gradually, she started climbing the ladder of success and entered in the world of Television as an Assistant Director.
Arpita says that the death of her mother proved to be a turning point for her career. She did a Diploma in Counseling and Personality Development form Nrityanjali Institute, Mumbai. She started writing life stories of people along with Journals. She also explored herself through Expressive Arts in different forms and turned into a Counselor and Life Coach.
When asked about her struggles, Arpita says that like everyone else, she also had many ups and downs in her life. She says that although having a good job initially, to make her life stable and satisfied, she tried her hand at many jobs in different fields. She faced many challenges to reach her destined field. On a personal front, taking care of her daibetic mother along with her job was quite challenging for her.
Talking about her achievements, Arpita says that while working in the Television and Journalism industry, she used to meet several big celebrities and even worked with high profile people of the industry. She has co-authored nine books in the past six months which are going to be published soon.
When Covid struck, she was initially stuck in Lavasa. But when the restrictions were eased up a little, she went back to her home and worked from there. She started taking online classes. She was quite comfortable working on online mode being friendly with technology. Also, her life coaching and counseling sessions increased during the pandemic because people were suffering a lot mentally.
In her spare time, Arpita likes to write, read, sing, cook, travel, draw and paint and socialize with people.
Arpita advises the youngsters to build and strengthen their communication skills for it being the most important part of our lives. Based on this, you can collaborate with people and create your network to go a long way in life.
