Arjun Vishwanath is a freelance Architect and an Urban Planner. Recently he worked for a company called ‘House of Design Studio’ in Jodhpur.
Arjun belongs to Kerala but has been living in Jaipur for the past eight years. After schooling, he took many design field entrance exams, out of which he qualified for NIFT and JEE Paper 2. Because his father was already running a textile business in Kerala, he chose to pursue a career in architecture. He did his Bachelor in Architecture and Masters in Urban Planning from Jaipur.
Recalling his childhood, Arjun says that he used to go swimming every day in the nearby water body. He was also fond of fishing which he misses today. From the beginning, he has been very fond of sketching, and today, his hobby dragged him to the field of architecture.
Talking about his role models, Arjun says his grandfather is his biggest inspiration for everything he has done for him and for taking care of his family in hard times.
Describing his struggles, Arjun says that because he is from South India and not used to converse in Hindi, it was a struggle for him in the beginning. Moving to Jaipur without having any friends, family, or relatives, was a huge struggle for him to adjust in a new place with a different culture.
When asked about his achievements, Arjun says that there was a time when he struggled to live in Jaipur, and today he has completed his entire college education from there, which is no less than an achievement for him. Apart from this, many of his research papers have been published and his name is published in a famous architectural guide book called ‘Jai Jaipur’ for his tremendous contribution, which is an achievement for him.
Sharing his COVID experience, Arjun says that although this pandemic has changed everything around the world, he has achieved a new phase in his life only because of the pandemic. In his professional journey, COVID has opened many doors offering different opportunities in the architectural and urban planning field which has helped him progress in his career.
According to Arjun, to build any career, not only education and experience but passion are also needed equally. He believes that even after getting a formal education, you must keep updating yourself to advance in your career along with gaining experience.
Regarding leadership, Arjun opines that he doesn’t consider himself a born leader but he feels that his bad situations, hardships, and life experiences have developed leadership qualities in him.
If Arjun had a Time Machine, he would have gone back in time and spent more and more time with his family.
If anyone wants to come into this field, Arjun advises them to, first of all, analyze whether they have the potential to fit in this field or not. Further, if you are passionate about this field, then you must enter this field and prove your worth.
