Aritri feels that many times some of your creations will work and other times they may not. We should not get demotivated by it and always keep working.

Aritri Chatterjee is a Horror-thriller writer and is working with YouTube channels like MGV Animations, IMR Scary Tales, and other platforms. She is also running her blog, ‘Terrifying Tales’, and a YouTube channel, ‘Phenomenon’.

Aritri did her Bachelors in English Literature from Calcutta University. She then pursued her Post-Graduation in Journalism and Mass Communication from Visva Bharati, Shanti Niketan. After that, she started working in Venkatesh Films as a Subtitle Writer for Bengali films but soon lost interest in the nine to five job and started doing freelance work and started her blog.

Aritri says that she always wanted to be a writer and was very clear about it. However, she started with poetry writing and had no intention of going into the mystery-horror genre. However, when she started reading novels like ‘It’ by Stephen King, she got hooked on the Mystery.

Aritri says that the present era is of audio-visual content and to get people on a reading platform is very tough. However, she never gave up and kept writing for her blog. Meanwhile, she also worked as an Editor and says that reading different works by different writers helped her improve her skills.

Aritri shares that patience is very important in this field. She says that no one can gain quick success in this field and many authors get recognized after writing three or four novels. Hence, she says that one should just keep the focus on their skills and keep writing.

Aritri says that her mother is her role model in her personal life. She is a painter and always gave Aritri a push to do something in the field of Art. It was her mother who made Aritri read different books and started her reading journey. Professionally, Aritri is inspired by the writer Dan Brown and loves his work. He has said that we should never write something which we would never enjoy reading and this statement has stayed with Aritri forever.

Aritri advises the new generation in the field of writing to be patient enough and not rush. She also thinks that the youth should look for internships and do as many as they can. Sometimes one has to even write for free but one should do it as it helps in gaining more experience in the field. She says that one should start a blog or YouTube channel and start putting their work forward and create a readership. She feels that your work should hook the reader from the very first paragraph

Talking about the Covid pandemic, Aritri feels that it turned the world upside down and changed the working culture. It gave new opportunities to writers as everything moved online and the scope for freelancing increased.

She regrets not working consistently on the blog she started in 2017 as it would have helped her a lot in the lockdown phase. She had to start from scratch in 2019 when she started her new blog. Aritri is also working on her YouTube channel and is trying to bring untold stories from the past for her viewers.
